I think it'd be cool to have data on how many copies of the game have been sold in the game details. Obviously this data wouldn't be available for less popular games but for the triple A titles itd be some nice info to have. The time that the sales number was last updated would be essential if this was implemented.
If gamespot doesn't have the resources to commit to this feature, I think the community would be quite willing to update this data for the site (though measures would be have to taken to keep the trolls off this data). Is this a possibility in the foreseable future?
