Hello, I am new to GameSpot.

Straight away when I visited the forum I noticed their were no development forums. ([Game]Programming.. [3D]Design..)
I feel GameSpot needs these forums as I would love to show off my 3D Models and post a few Programming tutorials and so would many other users.

If this forum was to be created I would help as much as possible posting tutorials daily for both Programming and Artistic Design.

If you do decide to create a few development forums then I suggest you create them like this (The reason VB and C# are together is because C# is actually more like VB than C++):

-----------------------------------------------
Development Option 1
-----------------------------------------------

Visual Basic/C# Forum
C++ Forum
Java Forum
3D Design
Signatures/Other Forum
-----------------------------------------------

-----------------------------------------------
Development Option 2
-----------------------------------------------

Programming
-- Visual Basic/C#
-- C++
-- Java
-- Other

Art & Design
-- 3D Design
-- Signatures/Avatars
-- Other
-----------------------------------------------

The bold "Development" is the Category.
The plain words are the Forums. (With nothing in-front of it or bold etc)
The "--" represents Sub-Forums. (That way we will save space)

In my opinion Option 2 is better.

Discuss ;)

I don't think there is enough people here to warrant making a programing board. I don't doubt there is a handful of people who can program, but not enough to keep an active board here. Gamespot attracts video gamers, and as ironic as it might be video gamers are necessarily programmers. Although I wouldn't mind an art and design forum, although we already have multiple unions for that along with Off-Topic.

Thanks for replying.

I'm sure there are many people who would like to program their own games but do not have a clue where to start, and this forum could help them alot as there would be tutorials, source codes etc.

I do not understand this "Union" thing. Could you explain to me what it is please?

Thanks,
Sam

Here is the official faq of what unions are. As for design unions there are a lot of them, see here. Most of them are just for art, but there are a few that are for making games.
