The Gamespot image host is not allowing me to queue images for loading. Specifically, in browser at the image upload site for my UserID when I select a file it does not "autopopulate" below the Images line as it is supposed to (between the Images and Album control boxes).

I thought it might be browser related by I've encountered the same issue in both Firefox 5.0 and IE 7.0.5730.13. I am operating in Windows XP.

I'd provide an image, but I cannot use Photobucket or Imageshack from work, and Gamespot's image host is not working for me. Any guidance you might provide would be most appreciated, as I would like to post a blog and need illustrations.

Thank you,

Boz

I suspect the problem is browser-related. It used to work perfectly with Firefox 1.5 until more recent versions of mootools started causing crashes, and in Firefox 3.0 it still works but the browser refuses to let anyone actually enter a file path in the edit field next to the Browse button. As all that has gone on I don't think there were ever any changes to the actual mechanics of the image upload page itself. I can't really say for sure what's been going on, but at least in part, apparently, browser developers have been having a lot of misgivings about the very existence of the Browse button mechanism for identifying files to upload and maybe even the mechanism for uploading files. It seems awfully late for that now, but that's why the behavior of the Browse button got screwed up back in Firefox 3.0, and I have no idea how much worse it has gotten. A lot of web sites have gone to a lot of trouble to come up with all kinds of circuitous workarounds, and frankly I haven't followed it that closely, but I know it's a mess. In the mean time, as I've mentioned, I think GS's upload mechanisms may have remained largely unchanged. So if you're using relatively current browsers and having problems with what amounts to an older interface, one approach might be to use an older browser, but I know that's counterintuitive, and I haven't done enough testing to know if that's really the right approach or if there's something else that could be going awry in the newer browsers.

Even IE 9.0.1 on a separate computer isn't allowing me to upload images. Are any other users having this issue? This is three different browsers, so I'm hopeful it's not a browser issue.

I have several blogs I'd like to add, but need the image host working.

It works for me, I've uploaded some screenshots using both my laptop and desktop and had no problems at all. It takes ~1 hour or so to see the pics though.

Firefox 5.0 (on Windows 7 64bit) IE 9, Opera 11.50 (on Windows XP SP2)

I have resolved this issue, or rather worked around it.

Using an older browser, in this case IE7, and the minimum security settings for the browser allowed the image uploader to queue files. I'm in the process of figuring out which setting it is exactly so that I can only change the one setting, but otherwise I've gotten a handle on it.

Happy gaming,

That sounds fairly consistent with the "go older" theory. Feel free to post your observations if you narrow it down more - it might be useful to someone else someday - especially if you figure it out on newer versions of IE.
