Gamespot forces my iphone to the mobile gamespot webpage... i know about the button on the bottom to redirect to the real gamespot webpage but once i get on here after about 2 clicks around the page i get forced back to the mobile homepage again and have to start all over... the iPhone does not need the mobile version of the gamespot webpage. by default the iPhone should stay on the normal gamespot webpage. to give you a better idea of what is going on and how annoying it is ill explain my last attempt with my iPhone and Gamespot: Goal was to check out Sins of a solar Empire forums. -Click on Gamespot.com... -redirected to m.gamespot.com -scroll down and click on redirect to www.gamespot.com -New page loads, leaving mobile site, press #ok -Gamespot Ad appears -Gamespot homepage -Click on PC -redirected to m.gamespot.com -scroll down and click on redirect to www.gamespot.com -New page loads, leaving mobile site, press #ok -Gamespot Ad appears -Gamespot homepage -Click on PC -scrolled down to most popular games and clicked Sins -redirected to m.gamespot.com -scroll down and click on redirect to www.gamespot.com -New page loads, leaving mobile site, press #ok -Gamespot Ad appears -Gamespot homepage -Click on PC -scrolled down to most popular games and clicked Sins -redirected to m.gamespot.com -scroll down and click on redirect to www.gamespot.com -New page loads, leaving mobile site, press #ok -Gamespot Ad appears -Gamespot homepage ***Tried a different way*** -Clicked on PC -Clicked on Reviews -redirected to m.gamespot.com -scroll down and click on redirect to www.gamespot.com -New page loads, leaving mobile site, press #ok -Gamespot Ad appears -Gamespot homepage This is sooooo annoying... and i know im not the only one with this problem
Hey Evolving_Jesus - this is a bug, thanks for letting us know. The intention on our end is definitely that you have the ability to choose which site (mobile or regular) to use, and stay on that site.
ok, glad i can help :) hope it gets fixed fast cuz gamespot is nice on the iphone. i still dont really understand why someone with an iphone would want mobile gamespot... but maybe thats just me.
Hey Evolving_Jesus - are you accepting cookies on your Safari browser? Our site only knows that you prefer the GS site if cookies are enabled, although I'm checking on the cookie timeout to see if it can be extended. As far as why people would use one or the other, you make a good point, we're still learning how people use the mobile site - some people like the full-featured site on their iphone, some prefer the quicker, simpler version. We're still learning the percentage breakdown for each. I'll put you down on the "use the full site" side. :)
