I Cannot Change My Profile Image and User Icon

I've tried uploading both JPEG and GIF files to replace my Profile Image and User Icon, but they never change on the actual site even though the upload is successful and the files meet the parameters needed. Does anybody have any suggestions regarding the cause of this problem?

Upload your image file to an image hosting service like ImageShack or Photobucket, then paste the resulting URL into the appropriate fields in your settings page. You should see the changes take effect instantly this way.

It's true that using the image host + URL method will usually reflect changes faster, but there are trade offs. Image hosts have bandwidth and up time issues, and it is possible for GS users to filter out all non-GS images. Another issue with the image host + URL method is that once you use it, you may not be able to go back to the GS-hosted method. The main problem with the GS-hosted method is that changes often take 20 or 30 minutes to show up on the web site, and users get confused. So dgsag, it looks like your current avatar was uploaded about 3 minutes before your post above - it might not have shown up right away, but it looks like it eventually worked. The profile banner I'm seeing for you looks like it is already using the URL method, so you might have to continue using the URL method to replace it.
