In posts, when I wanted to add an image I use the tool in the toolbar and insert the url. Bur recently when I try to add an image from my profile images I have uploaded here on Gamespot it won't work, although I have done it before. The tool though works for images outside Gamespot. What can I do?

Yes, I copy the url from the adress bar on the top of the browser (tried both from the page where you see the image and from the "View original" window) and paste it where it tells me to paste the url. In the white big box in the bottom it shows me for a second an icon of an image which then shows it broken to indicate probably that the image doesn't exist or something like that. I would have thought I'm doing something wrong but I have been able to post images from other sites.

I've tried the same thing in Firefox (updated) and IE 7.

here is how you do it, don't copy the url from address bar.

right click on the image you want to post. make sure it's not the thumbnail. select properties and the copy the texts in location and paste it in insert/edit image's image URL field.
