I asked this question during the e3 shows and it went unanswered, but as a paying member I would appreciate a response this time please. Otherwise I may as well cancel.

When I start watching live streaming videos, I only see the left side of the screen, the right half remains either black or has the logo still present from before the video starts.

How can I fix this? If I choose a lower resolutiuon it works fine, but obviously in a smaller window. Basically hi res gives me a viewing window the same size as the lower resolutions which only displays the left side of whatever is being broadcast.

It's an annoying problem and of course negates me needing a sub to the site when I can't view the hi res videos. I hope someone can shed some light on this please. Oh and it's related only to those videos that start up using windows media streaming it seems. Thanks.

What broswer and OS are you using? A screenshot would be especially helpful. you could email a screenshot if you can't post it anywhere.

I'm using windows xp (with service pack 1) and Firefox 2.0.

I'll have to post a screenshot next time you have a live broadcast. It's only happening with live stuff, not with streaming videos. Otherwise I can try and mock one up to show you what happens.

Ok, here is an example of what happens with live video. Because of the way windows media player works you can't see an actual picture on the left, but you can see that although the picture should be the full width, it stays obscured on the right by that TS trivia banner that doesn't vanish when I switch to the high res feed.

gamespot high res feeds messed up

Can someone expain why this is happening, as at the moment I can never watch live feeds in high res. Thanks.

Thanks for the post -- we'll look into it. We haven't been able to replicate, so this should help

In firefox there's a preference under javascript advanced preferences -> allow javascript to move or resize windows

is that enabled or disabled?

The live show window needds to resize itself based on your screen resolution and your chosen streaming quality, etc. if you're not letting it resize, this might be the issue. As a followup, does the same happen to you in IE?

To answer the first question, the "allow moving or resizing" is checked. And it does work as it always resizes itself correctly when I watch videos here that launch using flash player.

As for I.E that's a whole other story, videos refuse to launch in it for some reason. I'm always left with the "clock circle" that shows when something is loading. But the videos never load and start. But it's never bothered me as I always use Firefox anyway.

I'll give I.E another whirl and also try the move and resize ticked and unticked to see if anything changes. Sadly I need to wait for the next live broadcast before I can post results.

Thank you for replying.

Just tuned in to the latest On The Spot and it was the same problem. I unchecked the "allow moving and resizing" and still no luck. Re checked it and it's working fine now :) Thanks for the help.
