Hey everyone.

We have two kinds of bugs that have happened over login issues. One was a fault of our own, and the other is a technical issues we're still trying to determine. What I've noticed is that many people from outside U.S. encounter the problem the most. So, if you wouldn't mind, please report your location and browser in this topic.

Location: (Country only)
Browsers used: (IE, FF, Chrome, Opera, Safari)

Band-aid fix until this is resolved, you'll have to change your password; sometimes more than a couple of times in a month. We do apologize for the problem as we continue to determine a solution.

Today I wasn't able too login either from Firefox or Google Chrome. I've tried both from http://us.gamespot.com and www.gamespot.com nothing seems to work. Only after resetting my password was I able too get in and it's currently the only way I'm able too login. If I try too logout after the reset I'm redirecting too the error message page. I'm only able too login by resetting my password. Location: Denmark Browser: Firefox / Chrome Normally I don't have any issues logging on. EDIT: Btw it seems too be a location issue as I was able too login from http://uk.gamespot.com. It's VERY annoying but at least I'm now able too login from the uk site without having too request an reset email every time I'm not at home. Also I'm now 100% sure what my current password is :) Hope this issue will be fixed soon.

I'm sharing a problem with those two Danes. Login works with uk.gamespot.com but not so much with us.gamespot.com.

Please tell me why the hell can't I login from the normal gamespot.com site anymore?!
Just because I'm not located in the US but have an European IP address I'm forced on uk.gamespot.com just too be able too login. It's not fun anymore! It might be a minor issue but it's still very annoying and very illogical.

Lokation: Denmark

Browser: Firefox (win and mac), safari (ipad), IE 8 & IE 9

Logon allways fails. Only way to get online is password reset, this works on a given computer/device ontil the cookie expires. And that gets tedious when you read gamespot on 4 different computers/devices :)

Ha, I must be one of the few US gamespotters having this issue--AGAIN, but yeah I can't seem to login when it comes to using IE or FF. Chrome is actually the only browser that has keep me logged in (which is actually what I'm using right now to type this). I've done the whole stupid reset thing about a couple of months ago when I first had it happen to me and it seemed to be okay for a while. But apparently the issue seems to have reared its ugly head again.....

Hopefully this gets fixed. Pretty annoying to reset password almost every time I want to sign in!

They have some fixes in the works, which was going to go live the other day but we want to test it a bit more to make sure it's working as intended. Thanks again for everyone's continued patience.

Yeah I still have this problem too. Since october or november.

I'm in Sweden I use Firefox I go to www.gamespot.com I've tried it with explorer too.

And I always need to reset my password to log in.

I'm surprised you haven't resolved this issue yet. It is annoying. I even tried IGN to see if I liked their site better but they keep forcing me to a swedish version of their webpage instead. So I picked the lesser of two evils. Till I find a better gamesite anyway.

Seriously guys. How hard could it be to get a forum login to work in 2012?

You're looking pretty damn incompetent from where I'm sitting.

Sorry for the harsh words but I think they're justified.

Now excuse me while I go sleep till the world ends.

Same thing here.

I also live in Sweden and I am using Chrome (but the login fails also using IE). What're you doing to fix this? It's really annoying.

If you can't login too gamespot here is a simple workaround that always works for me: 1. Go to the UK Gamespot site HERE. 2. Then login as you would normally do. 3. Continue on global gamespot site HERE and you should now be logged in also on all gamespot domains (UK, US, AU) Have a nice Xmas :)

I've had this problem for some time now. I have to reset my password every time I log into my account. First I thought that I just forgot my password, but that's not the case.

Same problem, have to reset password on www.gamespot.com and us.gamespot.com.

uk.gamespot.com seems to work for some reason.

It's been like this for a few weeks AFAIK, but it has happened on numerous occasions in the past too.

I can login on IE, but not FireFox or Chrome. I can't even login to uk.gamespot on FireFox or Chrome.

Seemed to just start happening today for me.

This login issue have now been present for over a month. It's nice too hear that the staff are taken this serious and keep us updating. Still it's beyond my imagination why it's hasn't been fixed yet.

Hi

Location: SWEDEN

Browsers used: (IE9)

I guess it's the same problem as everyone else.

(1) Password not accepted

(2) Forgotten password procedure followed

(3) Mail received with link to reset,

(4) On completion of (3) user is logged on

(5) User logs out.

(6) User tries to log on

(7) Go to (1).

* For those that have this issue, try to login from the UK site as a temporary fix. Works for me at least. *

This works for me as well and have been my other way around this issue. Simply change the first part after http to uk (from either us or www) Think it will work with the Australian version too. That will be aus instead of uk(or www or us). Edit: See there are some updates to this issue now.

The australian site is au.gamespot.com, not aus.gamespot.com :P I've not had any issues, but I imagine that's because I default to the UK site.
