Minimum Level Required to Create a Thread

First off, I would like to acknowledge that this is probably something that has been brought up a good bit in this forum and around this site - so if anything is under construction or hypothesised then I apologize.

I rarely venture outside of System Wars, and while it is probably more rampant there than any other place we have a problem with too many level 1, 2, 3, 4 level trolls are creating threads to just troll.

I am in favor of the new TOU, so I don't want to see them go. But I feel this could iron out most of the problems that came with them.

A level 10 (or so -- and I've seen requests up to even 20) requirement to create a thread would put a swift end to all the mess that came with the new TOU.

--Of course this would have to be forum specefic, as forums like How to GameSpot definitely don't need anything of the sort.

UPDATE 1: Haziqonfire had a great idea to impliment a post limit. So you could either reach Level X or you must have X number of posts to create a thread.

Thanks for the support - as I would imagine the more user support there is for something the better the chance it has to be implimented (but thats just me thinking)

What level do people suggest? I am still behind the level 10 because it doesn't take too long to reach and if you are willing to devote the time then you are most likely not just doing it so you can be banned in a couple of days like most of the trolls and ban-dodgers.
Also if its 10 then it won't discourage people like a level 20 requirement could (lets face it, some people take things very personally)

Let it be said, that I do think a level 20 cap would effectively end the troll flaming - at least in the form of SPAM threads.

I think it is a silly idea to put a level requirement on thread making, or at least anything past level 3. I'm not sure what would motivate someone to want something as radical as level 10 or even 20 (A level I have not yet reached in nearly a year and over a thousand posts). I guess these people would prefer to punish new members to the community in order to make sure that rawsavon is not trolling them on his alt account. lol.

At first I was against a minimum level requirement, but after seeing SW flooded with troll topics by level 1'sI definitely agree with creating a minimum level, preferably level 10. I feel 10 is about right, it doesn't take extremely long to get to. I disagree with those here saying 20 though, 20 can take a good year to get to - as EntropyWins said, he's made over a thousand posts and is still only a level 17. Making 20 the minimum level is just too high and could seriously hurt traffic to the forum.

But, I do agree that a level 10 minimum would help could rid of most of the troll threads. And as others have said here, this would only apply to forums like SW and/or OT, as it is not necessary to create such a requirement for the other forums.

I think this would help out with the spam in System Wars. I wonder what their patience level is like.

A level requirement would be nice for some boards. Level 20 is way too high though, 10 seems about right.

Level 10 for a trial run and if the trolling doesn't slow down, then bump it up to 15 or 20.

I'm agree with this, level 10 seems fine to me only for SW and perhaps level 5 for OT, or even better, leave a level 5 for both but they cannot create more than let's say 2 threads in one day.

Looks like I'm the only person in this thread to disagree with this suggestion so far. Anyway, I don't think this would be toonecessary. We shouldn't be restricting too much for higher level users. I say just deal with spam thread and stuff another way. Something like this could also turn some people off.

This rule really wouldn't restrict lower levels from much at all, just from posting a thread on System Wars until reaching the set level (level 10, for example). Ever since the ToU change the spam on System Wars has become way too frequent. New users would be free to post on other boards as they like, save System Wars. Besides, most of the spam threads on System Wars are usually created by a few users using multiple alternate accounts. By creating the minimum level requirement for SW, the alt accounts won't be allowed to spam anymore.
