Missing One of Your Reviews? Read Me! (Keep it here please)

Hi there GameSpotters.
It would appear that there are a few issues now with user reviews staying attached to your profiles. If you've noticed that one of your finely written reviews on a particular game has gone missing fear not, there may still be hope. Simply enter the following information and I will do my best to recover the review to your GameSpot account.

• Name of the game
• Platform for the game

Please note that these have to be done one at a time and by the hands of a staff member (like myself) I will do my best to keep up with the sheet but I am only one person for now. Thanks for understanding and happy posting!

Here's that Tales of the Abyss review.

I am not sure how you are going to fix this manually for users like me, who have 184 user reviews which are given "rating" status instead of full user review status at this time of writing. I doubt that you have the time to go through them one by one.

If you want to go through them anyway though, the 184 user reviews which I have written and are missing from the main listing for "user reviews" but are listed as mere "ratings" can be seen here (you might need to click on the "Apply Filter" button once or twice). If they can be restored, the tally should match the number of user reviews associated with my account.

Those user reviews are not mere scores. They were written user reviews of mine which were somehow downgraded to "rating" status.

One more thing though, 3 pathetic excuses of reviews I wrote back in 2008 have come back to my profile even though I deleted them months ago, clicking on them through my profile does nothing though, but I want them obliterated.

(EDITED BY ADMIN: Both of those games are displaying on your profile. Also, I'm unsure why your deleted content is still showing for you and me. However, when you try and access the url from an account that isn't logged in, nothing comes up. I'll ask the devs to check this out in the meantime.)

I've written at least 30 reviews, possibly more, over 200 ratings too.

I've looked at a sample of maybe 10 random(ish) user profiles, linked from reviews they've written. About 6 linked to 0 reviews/ratings, the other 4 had almost all of their reviews/ratings misisng.

I appreciate the effort but it is a waste of time labor restoring them individually. I can google my username + gamespot or look at individual games and see my reviews and ratings still exist, just a matter of fixing the listings on profiles.

Going off memory:

Lego Harry Potter Years 1-4 - 360 or PS3

Lego Batman 2 (I think) - PS3

WWE 13 - PS3

WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2011 - PS3

Now, that's a problem, because I can't remember which games I actually reviewed.

However, I know I reviewed Final Fantasy VI (SNES), Super Metroid (SNES), System Shock 2 (PC), Metroid Prime (GC) and a few others whose names I have forgotten.

It would suck if I lost all of them...like, royally suck.

"Missing one of your reviews?"...more like missing all...which reviews I am missing, well when I go to my profile I see 0 reviews and 0 ratings today, I say today as it changes every week, why just last week I saw round 20 reviews and 5 ratings from 30 reviews and 450 ratings...anyway missing these https://www.google.co.uk/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=thorn3000%20gamespot and a lot of other ones which google does not list....honestly restoring them one by one is nonsense and it is IMPOSSIBLE (don't envy you if you were assigned this job)...you simply need to have a dev develop and run a proper script to do this, the reviews as well as ratings are there and simply their listing on the profiles was severed, there is no other way, otherwise you have just lost the whole review / rating community...

Any news on this topic? If the ratings & reviews are severed for good (ie: not visible in a customizable list via the user's profile)... then I think we have a right to be told that ASAP. Trying to reconnect every review & rating one-by-one is an insult to the problem.

Any update here? Have GS developers actually been informed? Problem doesn't seem to just be confined to reviews too... all my counts seemed to be totally bugged. Says I've made 86 forum posts, then only lists the 16 I've actually made.

Has any progress been made? I just noticed my 200 odd ratings had disappeared.

I am currently missing ALL of my reviews...These are the ones that I remember off the top of my head.

According to my profile I have 7 reviews, however when I click on Reviews, none show up? I have been tidying and updating my profile and I was going to bring across all my steam/facebook reviews onto Gamespot but I'd like to see what currently exists.

Umm... they're all gone. All my ratings just vanished. It's a barren wasteland.

No they are GONE AGAIN ... although all my ~100 reviews were back for me 12 hours ago but now only 12 showing.

I've added the following users to the list of cases that need to be examined by devs regarding the state of their reviews:

There was a Gamespot review for the GBA game Drill Dozer, but now it's gone. I don't have a review written for it, but it is on my Wish List. I wanted to read the GS review, but it doesn't appear in the reviews page of that game: http://www.gamespot.com/drill-dozer/reviews/

hey DigitalDame, wanted to say thanks, checked today and my 500 ratings have been restored, reviews seem fine for now...you putting me on that list must have helped, thanks for the help! hopefully everything will stay stable from now regarding the ratings, cheers!

This is not missing, per se, but it is related to the rating issue, so I thought I'd post it here.

I had 12 ratings when the site was migrated, and then deleted them. Now it says I have -12 ratings.

Hey all, we've released a change that return ratings to the reviews page in your profile by combining them into the list alongside your regular reviews. We'll be making a couple slight changes to copy next week to make it a bit more obvious which ones are reviews and which are ratings, but everything should be back now.

Please let me know if that isn't the case!
