Ugh. For years and years, I've checked Gamespot's new release page at the beginning of every month to see what PC games were coming out that month. The "new games" page after the redesign is fubar:

-- The list can be filtered by letter and release date, but not by platform. Seriously?

-- Games are listed multiple, multiple times. COD Ghosts and ACIV were both listed about a dozen times on various dates in November. This isn't even a matter of listing the console release date, and then the PC date -- there's something strange going on that's causing these games to be listed as releasing every other day all month.

-- No information on the games is available on the new page; the old page used to include genre and dev as well as title, which made it easy to tell games I might be interested in from ones I absolutely wouldn't be.

Please consider updating to make the new version more functional.

Yes, everything on the new site looks like pc gaming being sabotaged. Gamespot used to be my (and countless others') pc (and console) gaming encyclopedia. I don't see any reason for that to be ruined..

you should stop focusing on making new videos and new stuff (Feedbakulah)and focus on fixing this website to work as it should be.I used to love this website because it had a solid backbone and the only website which had a very accurate weekly new releases and has all games listed by platform and genre. now it's all gone and looking for new releases is a joke also searching by genre is disabled.

now your website is no different than other website. scratch that pc Gamer is way better than your site right now. which is very disappointing because I never needed to use pc gamer until you wrecked gamespot

please fix this at all costs

This is only the 2nd time I've posted on Gamespot...I created an account a ways back just to comment on how embarrassingly horrid the interview was with Total War's designer.

Now I dug up that account info so I could log on and say how horrid Gamespot's new website design is. Seriously, its really, really bad. Until or unless it changes, I won't be visiting anymore.

I just tried the site on Google Chrome and it runs much better and without all the errors. Improving the interface for IE Explorer should be looked into, because on that browser the site looks like garbage.

I have to agree with the others.

This site used to be informational. Now all the info is hidden or unobtainable.

It seems that it is just a push to show videos like Gamespot is trying to be a Television channel.

Trying to find reviews by the users is tedious. Trying to find release dates is an annoyance.

It is as if the entire staff has just found glamour in putting themselves in front of cameras.

The ads are extremely aggressive. The site is slow loading and filled with useless junk.

I just took the time to write this down, because this site is about to be removed from my bookmarks, because I find no reason to visit here anymore.

A few things about the new "game searching" functionality of the site are really bugging me....

  • First of all, please make the genre filter a drop-down choice.

If someone wants to search all games in a time period, genre by genre, they can't do it. You can type a common genre (like platformer) then move on to the next that comes in mind... but in that case you're bound to miss games belonging to obscure genres. If there was a drop-down menu of all existing genres this wouldn't be a problem.
Also, games no longer have a primary genre... instead they have genre tags, which makes things almost impossible since one game will usually come up at least twice in the search sequence I described. (this was not a problem before, games were placed into one genre group only and there was even additional information describing the sub-genre)

  • Please improve the search page's speed and ease of use.

Someone thought putting fancy pictures for each title is an improvement. Let's be realistic, people using an advanced search probably aren't casual gamers that will be impressed with cool visuals and the site's art direction. Instead they favor utility. The old searches were much faster and could wield up to 50 results. Now it's slower with 24 results per page... Good job GameSpot! One step forward and two steps back. ....but okay, we have fancy pictures to look at while the page struggles to load.
At least give us an option to disable the covers, so everyone will be happy.

I can't believe it, I have relied on gamespot since as far back as I can remember to bring me Reviews,Previews and News with easy navigation. This new layout, is hurting my head. The drop down menu isn't responding to my mouse (every time I attempt to scroll the drop down collapses), and as for the pages themselves, they're repulsive to look at. There's just way too much white space, I feel like I'm at CEX, browsing at all the old forgotten games selling for 50p each. It feels... so god damn cheap.

Gamespot is not supposed to be a shitty shelf of unwanted games where the consumer has to just get what they're given. Where is the visually entrancing Gamespot that I visited not so long ago. Where is the fun !?

I'm worried I've lost my source of gaming news.

Who ever designed this layout... fire them.

Another strange issue to add to the above list. For some reason 90% of the games in Coming Soon are some empty Japanese titles (no images, nothing, just title). They look more like Hentai series than actual games...Maybe some of the developers actiated his personal collection or something :) But this is really annoying, just have a look: http://www.gamespot.com/pc/#js-game-coming

Does not matter which browser you use because the page design and the information on the pages is what's messed up. PC's "New Releases" and "Coming Soon" are worthless now. Some days it shows old releases that may have made it to some new country years later, may show some crap web games, maybe some blank images with some nonsense title, usually not much useful. I mean the release dates were off a lot of the time in the past but 2097 for some titles now, that's ridiculous.

I keep coming back thinking GameSpot will have realized how bad their site sucks now and will have implemented some needed changes\reverses but hasn't happened.

Officially off my Bookmarks list as of tonight.

IGN & G4TV don't compare to the old GameSpot but are much more useful than what's become of GameSpot.

Could you please add "Sort by" Number of Votes to http://www.gamespot.com/new-games/best-pc-games/ page?

Some weeks ago you introduced "Sort by: Member Score". That was really helpful. But now the same option has a different functionality. Only games with a lot of votes show up. I don't know exactly how many votes, but it's too restrictive.
I want to use that sorting option, but I also want to search much deeper in the game pool (games with as low as 3-5 votes should not be missed). Please change this back or provide additional options. Also, like makstitoff suggested, Sort by: Number of Votes can be quite useful.

I don't post too often but I visit basically daily. As stated above the new interface has taken away my ability to find a game, release date, systems it is or is going to be on, or any pertinent info. Please go back to when you click on a game title there is actual information not just "News" about the game.

Hey everyone,

Fixing our New Games page is a high priority for us in the new year. I realize that it's been buggy and problematic for some time now, but we've just wrapped up a huge internal development effort and are finally in a position to make changes and improvements to a number of pages on the site, this one included.

We'll be adjusting the New Games page to focus on the release calendar, and to filter out older titles that are being re-released. Look for this in the coming weeks!
