My suggestion is from this blog, by U1 - if you don't want to read it - she basically says that the GS User Soapbox is becoming flooded with editorials that aren't really worthy of that much featuring - that the soapbox-featured people are marking their blogs as editorials when they are just talking about the Bioshock demo, etc.

She proposes a new system - where the users somehow filter editorials, because it seems that the staff don't really read the old editorials to check if they should be on the soapbox.

I think there should be soapbox mods - people who can see all the editorials, and they vote on them, and ones with a good vote get featured - there has to be more than one soapbox mod, because, obviously, it is partly subjective. I volunteer to be a soapbox mod, if they ever are created.

Thoughts?

The users being soapboxed are part of what I believe a very small pool of recognised contributors KNOWN by the admins/community managers, and I agree they highlight too much specific stuff about a single game that aren't editorials in the first place. The '' category: editorial '' is definitely abused, and such abuse loosely acknowledged. Moreover, just try to spot the very ''unforgettable editorials'' that should be.......that, unforgettable, in order to receive the award: very few inbetween ( not everyday, sometimes weeks, that we can find the ''Draqq Zyxorian'' seal of quality if you follow me ).

Also, have you noticed that some users have been soapboxed multiple times recently, while some exceptional editorialists remain totally overlooked. The whole feature needs to be revamped, or, if it's too much work for the admins to spot unforgettable writings outside their visual field, probably it would be better switching back to the old Freeplay.
