Hi,

I am not sure if this is the place to contact the web site maintainers, but it seems that recently, Norton Safe Web has tagged gamespot as being unsafe. Perhaps the web maintainers would like to follow the steps indicated so that this tagging is removed?

The problem is mentioned here: http://safeweb.norton.com/report/show?url=gamespot.com

It's apparently complaining about this download...Which seems really odd.

I'm getting it as well.

Threat Name: Trojan.Vundo.B

Location: http://ll.lo.download.gamespot.com/d4/gsc/action/grandtheftautovicecity/MTAInstall05.exe?rs=150&e=1253398926&h=3fc83449dc6dea92fc646e50c221e8fc&file=MTAInstall05.exe I had been getting strange pop-ups (porn) when clicking on outside links originating from the Gamespot forums a week or so ago as well. Is the site being targeted?

I visit Gamespot frequently :-) and it seems that this just got flagged sometime this week... Not sure if there is anything the Gamespot sysadmins can do about it; users are posting 5 stars...I think that is all we can do. Norton Safe Web is usually right; but I guess false alarms always happen and are part of virus scanners, etc...

Odd that it gives Gamespot a big X for just one file (I'm sure the Gamespot site has many files)...

Thanks for looking into it!

I don't have Norton..but im gonna get it. However on another computer I got that trojan through java (which it was designed to infect) and it makes looks go elsewhere and minor stuff like that. I think norton should adjust their safe web so it blocks you from that page only and only gives you red about links to that download and that download's page - does it do that now? Sorry if it does.

If you are infected I think mcafee has a free vundo remover.

P.S Sorry for editing the quotes - wouldnt let me submit with the links in as was causing a HTML error that I couldn't work out.

I've got someone looking at it. It appears Norton and other antivirus programs flags that file, though according to a member of the mod's dev team, it is safe and lilkely flags Norton because the mod accesses memory used by GTA. For now, hang in there, and we should get it sorted out.

Norton's cache will probably have to catch up to the removal...

It's pretty dodge that this happened though.

Hopefully there are no further incidents in the future.
