Notification button

I find the notification button with the bell super annoying and out of place. It just looks so weird hovering over everything. Is there a way to hide it or remove it altogether? I dont even get the point of it seeing as we have a notification button already by the profile on the top right...

@aigis: I believe it can be turned off in your profile settings, I just don't know exactly which one it is. Desktop Notifications?

It's funny how many great features are gone for the reason that they take effort to maintain and yet we get things like this. Now I'll give you that times are changing and maybe people are looking for different things in websites, but I'll be if this is what anyone wants. Having notifications sent to my desktop is a bizarre concept. I'm not even sure I understand what "desktop" here refers to.

Speaking of notifications, what is that little slide next to your avatar/notification button? Mine current says A and it can be slid to the right.

@aigis: In your profile Settings page, turn off "Show me desktop notifications".
