I just spent over an hour typing up a long, well thought-out blog to submit as my next editorial for the Soapbox. I wrote it, revised it, read over it several times, and had it worded just the way I wanted...then I click "submit" and I am dismayed to find that my entire blog is deleted with some message that says "your HTML is not well-formed, please check for unclosed tags."

Please check for unclosed tags? My entire blog got deleted how am I supposed to check for anything?

I've encountered this problem before when trying to submit a blog but this is the first time that my entire blog got deleted.

I would really appreciate it if this problem is addressed as soon as possible.

Can someone please tell me what "unclosed tags" are?

You probably used the greater than or less than signs somewhere in your blog post... and in turn when you use those, the editor goes crazy because it thinks you're trying to form HTML, and erases everything. Just try avoid using these ">" symbols... I've had the same thing happen to me before.

Write your posts in Notepad and save every 5 minutes, and then copypaste to your GS blog.

Thank you for your suggestions, I appreciate that.

However, I still don't think that the entire blog should get deleted just because the editor detected an unfinished HTML. Hopefully this is just a glitch and if it gets fixed soon I'll be very appreciative.

good idea. i also made a post of making big blogs like that to be minimized and when clicked on show the full blog. my home page is real long on the left side, and i have to scroll or press the end button just to get to the bottom. anybody else agree

It's because certain words and tags are being filtered through a new HTML tag. Using words like "c.l.a.s.s." or "s.t.y.l.e." will trigger the forbidden glitch, as I prefer to call it. Like somone mentioned, before submitting the entry, copy it all into notepad and then repaste it back into the Entry block from there. Try to limit your HTML (bold, underline, colors, sizes, etc) as much as possible, and the threat of the forbidden glitch won't be as potential. On a side note, before submitting, you may want to hit the HTML toggle button to see if some weird tags get filtered through with the words "c.l.a.s.s." or "s.t.y.l.e." It's a pain, but it's better than nothing.

EDIT: for more on that, you may want to check out my lttle guide here.

Be extra careful about "class" and "style". This will delete all your stuff. Also, if you have any pictures posted, check their code and if you see "class=" or "style=" before an image link, immediately delete it. I've had a couple blogs deleted for these glitches. Watch out, and I doubt Gamespot can fix it now. Too many other problems are occuring in other places. And yes, always use Notepad or you're done for.
