I believe a technical problem is interfereing with privacy setting options.

From 'Options', I may set 'Who can see my blog postings' to 'Just Me (Private)' under 'Site Settings', however after setting 'Who can see my profile and see my site contributions in the mini-feed' to 'Just Me (Private)' the setting reverts to 'Anybody'.

There was a similar issue regarding the blog settings, though appears to resolved.

Some other users have selected 'Just Me' with regards to their profile, therefore the problem is most likely linked to actually setting the option, as opposed to the option itself.

I would greatly appreciate any input you may be able to provide.

Thank you.

Azure_Valkyrie, it looks like your profile is public but your blog is not. If that's not what you want, what is it that you are trying to do?

I would like to set my profile to private, but the setting reverts to ''Anybody' after clicking apply changes and clicking any other tab in options.

Ok. That I understand. It also sounds similar to something I have seen reported before, over here. One of the leading theories is that it might be an indication that something has disabled javascript on that page. When you click Apply Changes, does anything actually happen?

Yes, the setting remains at Private, but reverts to Anybody after clicking any other tab or opening options at a later date.

I should have found this sooner... I'm pretty sure there is indeed a bug here. Writing it up properly is going to take longer than I have right now, so I'll just give you the gist of the title (which I still need to work on), and some quick thoughts... Clicking the Site Settings tab in options almost always makes your profile public, without you taking any further action If you want to set your profile private and have it stay that way, go to Site Settings, set it private, apply the change, then close the browser window that has all the options tabs in it. After that, don't go back to the Site Settings tab in options! Just going to that tab is what's causing the problem. If you want to verify that your profile is private, shut down your browser completely, then open it up again, and delete all your gamespot.com cookies. You might have to do this a couple times for some browsers, like IE. Once all the gamespot.com cookies are actually gone, try to view your profile, either using a bookmark or typing the link in directly. That is, http://www.gamespot.com/users/*username*/, with the appropriate substitution. When you load the page up, it should look like you are not logged in, and you should see a message indicating that your profile is private. Log back in, enjoy your profile privacy, and forget about going back to the options for a good long while...
