I double, nay, TRIPLE-check every post before I click submit, yet spaces tend to be randomly deleted somewhere in the postingprocess!

Stop using the wysiwyg editor - it has some annoying bugs, and this is one of them. The plain editor isn't perfect, but it doesn't have nearly as many issues.
