Hello there!

I was going through our avatars listing found under the options (images tab) and noticed that we haven't had any updates since the 80x80 avatars were changed at least 3 years ago.

I'm interested in having a type of avatar activity where you submit avatars like we did years ago. The games and platforms I'm looking for include the following.

GameSpot logo variations are also welcome! [/spoiler] Please note that while I won't be able to use everyone's entries I'll have the web design staff look through the avatars and select the best ones. I'll grant 1,000 GS profile points for each avatar that we add to the preferences drop down menu.

Also, I have not had all of these games approved just yet; while I'm asking for avatars to be created for these games, that doesn't mean they'll all end up in the preference list (especially if not enough of you submit any). I also plan to contribute in this project!

The avatars you submit should be 80 x 80. Additionally, staff will alter the avatars to web format to reduce the sizes, so if you could submit your avatars with nice quality while using jpeg jpg while also having it low in resolution, this will help with the process. If you think the comression process is quite difficult to do (making the images look warped) go ahead and submit the higher resolution in jpg (or bmp) format and we'll change this for you.

Additionally, you don't have to do a complete series for each set of avatars, but they are most welcome if they look like a set. You can also just submit one avatar to help with this project.

Sounds cool , but before we get started i have some questions if you don't mind:
1. How much time do we have.
2. Can we submit an animated GIF's Avatars (like mine for example) .
3. Does this have anything to do with the new incoming changes on GS?(cause we might have some suggestions around this area ).

I have some avatar pics for submissions. For now, I am creating them as an easy pastime. I will update this post with new submissions as I make more. I have uploaded the pics to my GameSpot profile, so they are effectively GameSpot/CBS property now.

Tip: You don't really need Photoshop or any other high-end photo-editing software to do this. I merely used Microsoft Excel, Paint and Picture Manager as well as the ever reliable Print Screen button to do this. DIRT CHEAP, I know, but it puts less stress on my computer hardware.

By the way, I have uploaded (some of) them in PNG form as I have noticed that this format gives the least trouble to me, at least before I found out that JPEG images are no longer as troubled as before.

(If GameSpot's design team wants them, I can provide JPEG conversions of these.)

P.S. Now that I have a convenient opportunity to re-examine the design of Doom 3's monsters more closely, I find that I had not noticed how creepy and disturbing some of their designs are - I was too busy shooting the (un-)holy crap out of them when I was playing Doom 3. That said, I expect only ardent Doom fans to actually use these as profile pictures.
