Are gamespot having some kind of tech difficulty? Every video I click on to watch loads but then just stays blank.

same here,I looked on the stickied topic about it but it hasnt been posted in in over a year and if im not mistaken alot has changed on the site since then. This is the only site that wont play videos for me and I know alot of others have same problem as a good 20% of comments for most videos is people asking/stating/complaining on why the video doesnt work.I click on the video and the page and player load up with a still image from the video and then it blank screens
I believe I too am having the same problem as you guys. I just did a system reinstall and I can't watch gamespot videos and at first I thought it was a system error but after installing, uninstalling and reinstalling the latest version of flahs and java, as well as being able to play youtube videos and others (and flash games) I believe it may be a problem with the site.
What happens to me is the page loads up and the timer for the video says "0.00\0.00" or something to that effect but the video just stays black. However... I get an image of the video that flashes up very briefly before disappearing to a black screen and I just eralised if I click that image at the right time (just clicking really fast on it when it pops up works) then the video will stream fine. Might be a temporary "fix" for anyone else if they are having the same problem as me, if not just ignore me :)
Yeah so please gamespot fix this if possible, I need more vids! Thanks.
Can you guys provide a few more specific details?
Specific URL
Are you logged in or logged out?
Browser
Version of Flash
Clock text (a few of you provided this already)
Is there an ad beneath the player?
HD or SD video?
Any further video player behavior notes (like the ones Scarab mentioned)
I'll definitely look into pinpointing this.
Hi I can't watch them either, only seems to be newer vids though, I can still watch old ones.
For example the ninja blade video review doesn't work for me, clock text reads 00:00/00:00, using Firefox, downloaded latest flashplayer (10). The video does work in internet explorer though for some reason, but it's really annoying as I always use Firefox. I can watch the first video embeded in the written review but not the actual video review.
Also can't watch the Godfather 2 video review or the Operation flashpoint 2 trailer 4.
Hope this helps.
I use chrome as my primary browser but internet explorer if I have to. The following URLs failed to play in both chrome and internet explorer:
http://uk.gamespot.com/pc/action/chroniclesofriddickassaultondarkathena/video/6207722
http://uk.gamespot.com/wii/action/deadspaceextraction/video/6207727/dead-space-extraction-interview-with-steve-papoutsis?hd=1&tag=topslot;watchlink;4

http://uk.gamespot.com/pc/action/halflife2/video/6113311/half-life-2-video-review?om_act=convert&om_clk=gssummary&tag=summary;watch-review
Those are just a selection, I haven't actually got any to work so far I don't think however the podcasts do play so I guess it's something to do with flash.
Same deal for both browsers whether logged in or logged out.
Using the latest version of flash for windows internet explorer: 10,0,22,87.
Clock text is always 00.000.00.
On some videos there are ads beneath the player but it doesn't play whether there are or aren't any ads below it, the start select video for example with no ad beneath will fail to play also. I will attach a snippet of what happens when an ad should be there.
Same thing happens in both SD and HD, however the glitch I mentioned earlier does not occur when watching in HD.
Thanks for the support, link is for an image of what happens when there is an ad below the player.
