The reason for this post is the new way of streaming video. Earlier it was like most streaming video players are today; the player downloads a buffer to the point where it is estimated that playback can start without interruption. For me now, the video is started directly, but freezes multiple times during the beginning. These pauses then become shorter and appear less often as time goes on. Do you also experience this, people, or is it my slow connection? :?
This often becomes a great pain in the ----! Often the audio is running but the video is not, so you loose precious gameplay footage. But the worst part is when the pauses are so brief that they are hardly noticeable, and it feels like my brain is lagging. For every time it freezes like that it feels like something is trying to slow down my thought process, it's hard to explain but it's very annoying. It has often made me stop watching and read the review instead, but the video reviews are the greatest thing about Gamespot.com!!
Don't you all agree, webmasters and members, that it was better before? At least it should be optional to use the old interface?
By the way, otherwise I think that the new design and enhancement to the site are great. The reviews are as always top notch; you're all doing a great job. An especially great enhancement are the "Good / Bad" summaries which let you quickly understand the strengths and weaknesses of the game when you don't feel like reading or watching through the whole review. Nicely done! :D
(the spell checker doesn't recognize the word 'gameplay' on a games forum!)
