This is my list of image issues that have come up since the wide layout. I have reported a couple of them before, but since they are all still in effect I figured I'd pull them together... Issue 1 At the moment uploading of user images seems to be broken. After uploading an image you get the "finished uploading" page as usual, but when you reload the images page the newly uploaded images are not shown, even after a day or so. This has deteriorated in stages. In the early days of the wide format there was a "processing image" placeholder that would eventually be replaced by a thumbnail of the uploaded image. At first the processing was done after a couple minutes (performing comparably to the pre-wide site). Later the "processing image" placeholder would be there for more than 20 minutes. Later still the "processing image" placeholder disappeared altogether, and it took hours for uploaded images to show up in the lists of images. Last week I uploaded a couple images and they didn't show up until the next day. Now images that I have uploaded are not showing up even after a day. I have received no PMs indicating an error in processing, so the impression is that image upload processing has ground to a halt. I suppose it might simply be taking days to do image upload processing now, but as a practical matter it's broken either way. This was previously reported in this thread. Issue 2 Links to albums of user images only work once. When used the first time the thumbnails of the images in the album are listed as expected. When the same image album link is used a second or subsequent time no thumbnails are listed. This behavior persists for a minimum of an hour or two. After that, the link will work again, but only once, and after that the link again returns a page with no thumbnails listed. The affected image album links have the form: http://www.gamespot.com/users/*username*/view_album?id=*code* In the pages that do not list any thumbnails there is nothing between the "list_user_img" ul tags. This behavior occurs with any image album belonging to any user. It occurs with any browser. It occurs whether you are logged in or not. As an example, try this link twice, making sure you are actually getting a new page each time. The first time you may see the 7 images listed (unless someone else has already triggered the bug); the second time no images will be listed. This was previously reported in this thread. Issue 3 On a user's profile page, the thumbnails under "Recent Images" are stretched to fit a 100x75 rectangle, resulting in severe distortion for images that do not have a 4:3 aspect ratio. The current layout of the "Recent Images" doesn't make much sense anyway, because it always lists 6 images when only 4 will fit per row, which always results in 1 and a half rows with two thumbnail's worth of empty space. The thumbnail distortion could be fixed either by adjusting the thumbnail layout to fit the available thumbnails (perhaps the _4 thumbnail instead of the _3), or by generating a new additional thumbnail to fit the 100x75 space. Issue 4 Avatars in the "Tracked Blogs" area on a user's profile page are shown in a 40x40 rectangle without being shrunk to that size, resulting in the display of only the middle 40x40 area of the avatars. For better or worse, avatars are shrunk to various sized squares elsewhere on the site, so it is not clear why that isn't done in the "Tracked Blogs" area. Shrinking avatars to fit the 40x40 space might not be so bad since avatars should be square. Issue 5 In the "User Submissions" area of gamespaces, under "User Images", the _4 thumbnail is allowed to repeat in order to fill up the 96x72 display area. An example can be seen toward the bottom of this gamespace. Preventing the repeating is probably relatively easy, but actually making the result look right might take some additional consideration, similar to Issue 3 above (that is, layout adjustment, using the thumbnail differently, using a different thumbnail, and/or creating a different thumbnail).

Thanks. We'll look into those items. I'd definitely prefer the new site design to work better than the old one.

;)

Yes, I would just like to add that since I changed my banner in my profile, I can no longer see my banner nor the banners in anyone else's profiles...yet I can see union banners...And I did this nearly a week ago, I have looked at my browser settings, I have looked at Kaspersky Internet Security settings, they are all fine...
