User Reviewers Recommendation thread

The player review emblems are hand picked by the Community Team to avoid any emblem exploits. If you have a recommendation on an excellent user review writer or user video reviewer; please use this thread to alert us.

Recommendation Guidelines
1l Please be very clear about who you are recommending and if it is a VIDEO or WRITTEN review emblem. Now that we have a video reviewer emblem on the way, it is best to mention that you want us to check their user videos and not their user reviews.

2. Please link to the user's contributions page for written reviews and link to their video reviews if you are recommending them as a user video.

3. If you plan to recommend yourself recommend someone else with your rsubmission. Otherwise, this becomes a self-centered thread, which is not the purpose of bringing awareness to good writers.

Q. Do I need to be recommended to receive an emblems?
A. It's possible to get the emblem without being recommended. This thread is just for suggestions.

Q. Can I recommend myself?
A. Of course! Recommending yourself is a good place to start. Before recommending yourself try to hunt down other users to post with your recommendation. Important: Only recommend users who have 6 or more written reviews.

Q. Many people have recommended me! I deserve an emblem.
A. Recommending someone does not mean that they will receive an emblem. The community team are the one that makes a decision on who should receive a top reviewers emblem.

Q. Why haven't I received an emblem?
A. We will not share the criteria about how to receive a review emblem. Do some investigation! Check to see who has the emblem and then read their writing style and/or quality to your own. Grammar and spelling errors may be considered when we investigate written reviews.

Q. What is the difference between the emblems?
A. The Top 100 are more prolific. The Top 500 user may not have enough written reviews or they need to step it up on their writing skills. Video review emblem require enough videos to be considered.

Q. I want an emblem, give me an emblem, check out my reviews right away!
A. When you post your recommendations do not pester and private message staff or contact the moderators to check out a player review. This thread is the appropriate place to post your suggestions. The timeline on knowing when you'll recieve an emblem is anywhere between 30 and 90 days of the thread creation. Thanks for your cooperation in this matter.

Now, to get a recommendation does the criteria matter if the recommendation came from a review from some time ago.

With me I multiple written reviews,and some from the past I thought were well covered, and I would like to know if those could even be taken out of contention for reception of an emblem.

I'd like to reccommend myself, as I am already in the top 100 and have been continuing to write reviews for almost every game I play.

Any particular reason why this process is being repeated?

@ Jody...is there any way to get a list of some sort of those who have the Top 100 emblem? I enjoy GOOD player reviews, and I'm currently tracking several people who I know have the emblem, simply because I've discovered that their reviews match my tastes, so they're always helpful.

ALSO...might I suggest that you give some advice to all the people recommending themselves? (I'm not a moderator, so it won't mean as much coming from me.)...

*notices that I've recommended myself* Hey, I feel that I've earned it. People recommend me, and I have a fanbase. Then again, never can be sure if people recommend me for the review quality or just that I didn't say their favorite/least favorite game sucked/rocked. The only evidence I have for it either way is when somebody PMed me about how much they liked my Metal Gear Solid review.

In case you're not already aware, Mitch is one of several reviewers from the community who now writes freelance GameSpot reviews for us on a semi-regular basis. I'm not sure if that makes him ineligible for the emblem or anything, but thought you might be interested to know. :)

There is no way to sort by them right now. The community news blog has been featuring those from 100 or 500 lately though. Have you checked out the latest weekly reports? JodyR

@ VGK...lol...I didn't mean everyone who recommended themselves had no fans. But if you check, more than a few of those self-promoters have had few-to-none recommendations. (I include myself in that group, for the record, before anyone starts blasting me. :P )

I just would like the Top 100 to be an emblem that really signifies something, reserved for those few that the community feels deserve it. Simply writing a ton of reviews (even if they're GOOD reviews) doesn't automatically mean the writer deserves the emblem. If readers aren't tracking his reviews, then his contributions aren't helping anyone...yanno? *(Which is also why I'm glad mods have the final say...it prevents Friends-List-Exploitation...i.e. "You thumbs-up all mine and I'll thumbs-up all yours!")
