First time I opened http://www.gamespot.com/videos/the-point-e3-2015-what-a-wonderful-surprise/2300-6425700/ I got the video player for adblock users, with no quality options. Even though I've had Gamespot whitelisted for at least a month now. So yeah, I do have AdBlock installed but it is disabled for Gamespot and has been for the past month.

I tried to get the regular player by clearing all my cookies. But now the video will not appear altogether. I've reloaded the page countless times with F5 and Ctrl+F5 and the video refuses to appear. I even made a new Firefox profile and tried that: result is no video as well. The video does appear in IE or Chrome. In Firefox, the video does appear here: http://www.gamespot.com/shows/the-point/

Update: appears to be some sort of caching issue. I have now pressed Ctrl+F5 again after a 10 minute wait and now the video does appear.

Anyways, but there is still this bug that you give the video player meant for adblock users to people that have whitelisted Gamespot for the past month (and I cleared my cookies at least several times during that month, so the problem can't be old cookies). What's up with that Gamespot?

Your site should work fine with Adblock installed but the entire gamespot.com domain whitelisted. I mean, you can't expect people to remove Adblock altogether right?

@Wiro_: I'm not sure what your case is exactly but there are ad blockers that, even if they are disabled, are still doing things that interfere with our site. I've spent some time with "AdBlock" since it was causing problems with our chat and found they they do really dumb things to try to keep you "safe" from ads. Its a pit of bad hacks that hurts you more than it helps. GameSpot is by far not the only site that is incompatible with these things.

Try completely uninstalling and clear your cache and cookies and you should have no more problems.

I don't have a program called "AdBlock" installed. Me writing it that way in the first post is an error. My adblocker is called Adblock Plus.

I need to have Adblock Plus installed to protect me from malicious ads on some sites. I have a lot of sites whitelisted if I know they only serve safe ads (gamespot.com is whitelisted as well, as I mentioned in the first post). But a lot of other sites regularly serve ads with viruses inside them, these ads try to exploit vulnerabilities in the browser or in plugins and then infect your system with a trojan. Even very well-known and respected sites occassionally accidentally serve malicious ads, it's just too big of a risk to disable adblock plus completely. I use this computer for things like banking, making online payments etc as well.

@Wiro_: This is true mate, auto play ads can cause viruses and are dangerous, just wait for Adblock to fix the Gamespot site. Try Ublock, they seem to have fixed the Gamespot site. Gamespot seems to still be working on this matter, its been 2 months now, give them time, they are just super slow and must make due with the resources they have. We are living in tough times indeed.

@tsunami2311: Thanks. Didn't work for me though. I still got the player for adblock users today, even though I have gamespot whitelisted all the time.

I found an easier solution than deleting all my cookies though. You can go to Firefox Options - Privacy - Delete individual cookies. And then delete the Gamespot folder. That worked for me. And you can keep all your other cookies that way. So you don't have to re-enter your login info on the dozens of other sites you visit.
