Can you try a different browser on the computer that's not working to see if that works.

Also are you using any kind of adblock software? If so try turning that off.

I tried re-installing flash player, trying to play a video on both Firefox and IE, and I disabled adblock for the whole web site. None of those things worked.

I agree and confirm all that HackerXtreme have observed all old video content from before 2006 is unplayable and the download links for all the old gameplay, reviews, On the Spot episodes and Button Mashing ect. ect. is broken. Nearly all the old On the Spots from before 2006 wasn't possible too watch on demand. That wasn't a big issue as I just downloaded the videos. Now that's isn't working either. It's even more frustrating that all the old game reviews is either unplayable or can't be downloaded. I'm using Firefox 11 but I also tried with Chrome. It most be a server issue and I hope it will be fixed soon. This video has always been possible too download: Wii Special Broadcast The download link is now broken when I select Lo-Res Windows Media: http://download.gamespotcdn.com/d4/gsc/2006/11/169_onthespot_wiimarathon.wmv

Unfortunately this appears to be the visual result of several issues, some user video specific, many outright broken old videos, and perhaps other more general player/server issues too, though I've yet to experience any issues with new videos themselves, and all the user videos I've personally tried to play work fine too, so I'm not really sure what to think. The issues may be intermittent, or may simply not be affecting some users for some reason. A few examples of newer GS hosted or user videos that appear broken may be useful to help pinpoint the problem faster, but it is being worked on in some form; please make sure you're using an up-to-date flash player (note that chrome uses an integrated plugin instead of the system one by default and by having the most up-to-date version of chrome you should have the most up-to-date integrated flash player version, you can force chrome to check if it's up-to-date by clicking on the about google chrome option in the list that appears when you click on the wrench icon) and that any add-ons you may be running aren't blocking the video scripts from playing before posting any specific examples though. What browser version(s) the issue occurs on may be useful too, though I don't personally think that the issue is browser specific at this particular point in time. The old GS hosted videos being broken is known and has been filed as an issue at least, it may take a while to fully fix as it affects a huge amount of videos however. [QUOTE="Copernicus79"] This video has always been possible too download: Wii Special Broadcast The download link is now broken when I select Lo-Res Windows Media: http://download.gamespotcdn.com/d4/gsc/2006/11/169_onthespot_wiimarathon.wmv

That video plays fine for me atm (the pre-november 2006 ones don't however), but the download is broken, the file isn't at the referenced location at all and likely needs to be reuploaded.

Gelugon_baat

Have you tried this?

The webpage a thttp://www.gamespot.com/video/gamespot-and-giantbomb-break-walls-6372150/has resulted in too many redirects. Clearing your cookies for this site or allowing third-party cookies may fix the problem. If not, it is possibly a server configuration issue and not a problem with your computer.

^ *grumbles about all the style/class tags that I can't post in the quickquote, too lazy to wipe the html*...anyway, it's causing a redirect loop for me too, regardless of how I access the page, so probably worth having the staff look at it, 3rd party cookies/cached cookies don't appear to be the issue, though clearing the cookies will likely be necessary for it to work even after whatever is causing it is fixed. The video on that page is also available here in the meantime.

Here's a link that leads to a broken Flash player.

Gelugon_baat
Separating the video from the source it still doesn't load, though it's the 1st time I've seen this particular form of it - the page itself isn't loading properly either, there's a random 0 before the player and nothing past the player loads, which may or may not be related.

I have; it only caused me annoyances, and didn't solve the problem.

I even used other browsers, and another computer's browsers. Natch.

I had to watch the video on GameSpot's YouTube channel.

List of still-broken video pages at this time of writing:

Broken video for an iOS game.

Not sure if more cases such as these may help you isolate an ingrained problem, but hopefully you can spot a pattern in the execution of the webpage loading.

Log of Fixed Videos (thanks to any GameSpot staffer or admin-empowered user who fixed them, if you did fix them):

Since-fixed video for an iOS game..

Since-fixed video for some Sims-knock-off game.

Since-fixed video for Botanicula gameplay.

Botanicula video, no longer broken.

One video for DiRT Showdown.

Gameplay video for Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time.

Trailer video for Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time.

Fixed recap video for Prototype 2.

Hopefully, anybody of you that can see the code of the webpage as it loads can see any pattern to the scripts used to fix them.

I am not able to play the video "Now Playing: Guild Wars 2 Beta". It just shows the black screen with all the controls and nothing else.

I tried to download the video but it stopped at ~6 MB and did not continue.

Maybe it is something to do with the size of the video as the same thing happens for "Now Playing - Risen 2: Dark Waters".

I have tried playing the video on Firefox, Chrome and IE as well as on other computer.

It may be limitations of your browser. You might want to consider increasing your browser's access to computer resources, especially its cache.

For Firefox, go to Options and look for the Advanced tab. That tab contains virtually all of the options that you need for tweaking the resources that Firefox consumes.

However, I wouldn't mess around with those without an FAQ or technical support thread in hand. I don't exactly know all of the symptoms and details of your problem.

If messing around with those settings don't work, then I would tell you that I am stumped. It could be your router, your Internet connection settings or just GameSpot's problem.

You should know that Adobe maintains separate Flash player plug-ins for different browsers.

If I go to a page like thisI can watch the videos there without no problem but when I go to a video page it just says loading and I can't click at all on the drop down menu next to my username.

Now I am stumped.

It could be a HTML-loading problem, since you can watch Flash videos on one page but not the others. You may want to ring up some actual GameSpot staffers, because I think that this is an isolated site-user issue.

However, I suggest checking those video pages again. I have written a couple of posts earlier, and it seems to be a problem with how the GameSpot servers refresh their hosted content.

Reposting my reply from that thread for reference:
If this issue is occurring for you it will likely occur on all Flash videos you try to watch, like on YouTube and such, not just on this site. Try disabling hardware acceleration in your Flash player - right click on the video, click "Settings...", then uncheck the "Enable hardware acceleration" box.silentexistence

I just signed up for Total Acces and the HD videos cannot be played back on an iPad, even though the other video versions work. Could this please be fixed? Also on iPad, upon tapping on the Download button, the download versions of shows like OTS do not show up.

Exist a solution for this problem?

All the E3 session I couldn't watch.

I tried different browsers, cleared cache, Flash is uptodate, disabled HW acceleration.

Gamespot seems not to care.

In this case, it doesn't make any sense to pay for a subscription.

Thanks

Technical problems tend to happen in GameSpot. That said, your subscription is a waste. You don't have to watch HD versions of videos to see what GameSpot has uploaded.
