Why do WE have to rate the games in 0.5?

Isn't it enough that GS **** on the respect of people who're coming here every day but now they force us to review with the same increments as well??? And those emblems are more of an inside joke than anything helpful anyway!

Write all your reviews in your blog. That's what I'm doing now.

Watch the swearing, it is unnecessary and over the top. This is GameSpot's new scoring system, they are going to want it to be consistent. There's nothing from stopping you rate component scores within the body of the review if you feel so inclined.

Well, simply scoring the game seems to restrict you to that... but you can still actually review hte game, old system and all. I hope that never changes:

Consistent or not, I still want to rate games on the old .1 scale. Since I feel that some games I've rated are just only slightly better than others, something along the line of a .2 or .3 difference works for me to show that, which is now impossible to do. And I don't want to have a write a review for every game I want to rate that doesn't have a .5 or .0 in the score..

same here, and i highly doubt that even a large amount of users want to write a review for every game they rate just for the sake of rating using .1s...let lone have the time to write a detailed review on loads of games if they've recently been playing many and wish to rate them...

Over the top? lol you mean rather the opposite if you compare this to other things most users here have said about GS and those changes.

I don't think it was needed for player reviews, players can be very precise about their opinions, game sites with multiple reviewers can't.

They totally destroyed the player review system by doing this. The .5 system is too limiting, especially since all the past games youve scored are already in the .1 system and thus you may think one game you'd now have to give a 7.5 is worse than a game you gave 7.4 in the past but not worse than a game you rated 7.3.
