Hi guys,

I've been using gamespot for YEARS and I think it's by far the greatest games site ever.

I love the way it's built and I use it mainly to check out reviews before buying games for my variousconsoles.

HOWEVER, I just bought a Wii and I was surprised, yet disapointed, to see that there is NO WAY to differentiate native wii games and emulated games (from N64, SNES or NES).

For example, I was checking "TOP GAMES" as usual and selecting "All time"... and more than half of them are not even Wii games!!

Super Mario bros ?!??!?! the NES game...?? and punch out ?? Dude I wanna use the Wiimote NOT as if it was a NES controller with 8-bits graphics........ I didn't buy a wii to play ICE HOCKEY... yeah it's cool but for now I wanna play stuff that use the controller's movement sensors, etc.

So the point is :therefore it makes it really hard to screen out the real wii games.

The funniest is that I was at EBgames the other day and a guy was telling the salesman something about that thing "Yeah usually I know what I'm gonna buy before coming here but now gamespot is really messed up for the Wii games so I'm sure gonna let you suggest me what are the good games". Gamespot is incredibly popular, congratz for that.

In conclusion, wouldn't it be possible to have a separate section for the games that are EMULATED on the wii ? And so when we check out the reviews in the wii section, then we get the actual real Wii games.

I mean, we all know you can play orginal X-Box games on the X-Box 360 but you don't put them all in there cuz it'd be a mess.

Anyways that's about it... btw that's the one and only flaw I found on your website since I've been using it. Other than that like I said I'm a true fan of GameSpot.com I've been faithfully checking it out before I buy any of the hundreads of games I bought over the last years.

So keep up the good works dudes but please sort out that Wii section ;-)

Thx

It's very easy to tell what's a Wii game and what's a Virtual Console game. Wii games have boxart and the Virtual Console games just have a screenshot in place of boxart.

But what I would really like is if it would show us the score of the VC games when we click the Virtual Console tab in the Wii games. Right now it just shows the name of the game and you have to click it in order to see the score. That's kind of a hassle.

Nice try but the box art is not shown on the list except on the first page. You must click each game to see if it is a console release or not and even then it might not be clearly stated until much further down in the review if at all. I suppose that is ok when your looking at new releases but its still no excuse for Castlevania to have a release date of April 20, 2007 for the Wii. If games had their original release date on them it would be obvious but they do not they have the console release date for an arguably good reason.

I never owned a NES so I'm not familiar with all of the old titles and I'm old. I seriously doubt that anyone under the age of 20 remembers them at all and that is a big selling point for them. What happens when a real new game is released for the first time only on the console? How are we to differentiate between a 15 year old game and one that actually came out today? I understand the need to keep the list of available games for a system current but the games need to separated. Console games can be listed by them selves boxed games should be able to be too. Simple as that.

Since console games can be listed separately they must already be tagged somehow in the database. It seems that adding a drop down to list all Wii games not on that console list ( leaving boxed games) would not be a very complicated programming task.

Your other comment is a separate issue and sounds like a very good suggestion.

Yes, there is a different section for Virtual Console releases: http://www.gamespot.com/pages/filter/games.php?platform=10311&type=virtual_console&mode=top&sort=views&sortdir=asc&tag=subnav;virtual_console

It's easy to tell, but not by boxshots. Most of the Wii games that haven't appeared don't have boxshots available yet, and even so there are VC releases that don't have any boxshot at all in their gamespaces.
