I'm bored and I have the day off so I figured I would do a new thread.  I can't remember if I've posted this buy before, and itt may have been done before but I couldn't find anything when I searched the boards. Even if it has I haven't seen it done in awhile, and some of our new members may want to share.  I wanted to know what everyones best game find was.  You know, that rare game you saw sitting on the shelf for $5.00.  I posted mine below mostly because no one would care as much as you guys.

All bought from a gamestop about a 1-1/2 year ago.  Someone must have decided to get rid of their Playstation collection and I happened to go by the store a day after they put everything on the shelf.  All the games were new and sealed and they were selling them for the used price.

Legend Of Mana

Breath of Fire 3

Breath of Fire 4

Beyond the Beyond

Saga Frontier

Oddworld Abe's Exoddus

Thousand Arms

Kartia

Tales of Destiny

Tactics Ogre

Brigandine

Thunder Force 5

Final Fantasy Tactics (non GH)

Castlevania Symphony (non GH)

Aquanatus Holiday

Vampire Hunter D

Bushido Blade

King Of Fighters 95

Die Hard Trilogy

Kagero: Deception 2

Tail of The sun

Point Blank 3

Mega Man X5

Fear Effect 2

Kensei Sacred Fist

Total spent was.....$268.

That is most awesome, Some times I get lucky and find maybe one good game at a pawn shop like that but your list totally rocks what I have ever brought.

Tail of The sun

toppsseller

There are a lot of good games in there for that price, but this is my favorite out of them.

I've had some pretty good hauls in my time, most of them documented in the first volume of New Aquisitions.  I'll have to go through those one day, it'll be a nice trip down memory lane.

Tail Of The Sun does officially stink on ice.  It was $3.00 and I figured why not.

I've got a thing for very bad games.  I guess it is the one thing I seek out as a collector.

I think my best 2 deals were earthbound and Snow Bros for $5 (actually, maybe it was $10 - was a while ago so I forget...but either way, a LOT less than I usually see them for).

edit: I forget who was asking about scores on the collection vs bad taste emblem, but my overall score is a 7.8 - I think once you get a number of games with no score that kinda throwing the good taste/bad taste scoring off a bit.  Which is fine by me though actually - I love my bad taste emblem. :)  Fits perfectly with my B movie collection. :)

I bought cart only of secret of Mana (great condition, too) for 5 bucks CDN.  It goes for at least $40 US on EBay on it's own usually, at least back in 2003.  Actually, in 2003, I saw it go for over $60 without manual.  I have no idea why, I realised I didn't like it all that much :|

Yeah.  I actually liked Secret of Evermore better.  I got that for $10 five years earlier than when I got SoM.  Oh, and I got Final Fantasy III SNES reconditioned for $20 that same year.  A guy at school was willing to pay me $40 or $50 bucks for it, but i told him to sod off :P

I've had a number of "expensive RPG for $5 at pawn shop" moments, but the best deal I've ever gotten was a new, sealed copy of Ikaruga on Gamecube for 1 cent due to an incorrect price tag and a Buy 2 Get 1 Free sale.

Now, I know thses two games aren't "rare" or the "collectible" sort. I purchased a used Mega Man Anniversary and Phantasy Star Online Episode 3: C.A.R.D. Revolution for 5 bucks a piece, but as I handed over the games to the clerk she took off the plastic seals (Hastings factory seals their used games) and lo and behold there was ANOTHER seal inside of them. Apparently they were new. Well that was a great buy for me, 2 games brand new/factory sealed for 5 bucks a piece.

That's partly why I enjoy shopping at Hastings.

Awesome deal! Those are two of my favourite games ever. I probably paid more than I should have for Earthbound, but Snow Brothers I had since I was a kid. I didn't know it was worth a little something. Anyways... Not really sure if I've gotten any steals... But there were a few games recently I thought I got for a good price: Dragon Warrior II (NES): $10 Breath of Fire II (SNES): $10 Final Fantasy III (SNES): $17.50

Yes it helps. In my little backwards spot of land in the middle of the ocean we also only achieved technology (television, telephones, fire, the wheel, cheap copies of SOTN) in recent years, despite having invented at least two of them :P

I found Persona 2: Eternal Punishment for about $25 and Xenogears at about $25 on the same day at Gamestop. About a week before they stopped carrying Playstations games. Both were used but in perfect condition.

I've had a lot of good game finds, but one of my top personal favs is the first one I showed when I joined the CCU (it's actually the one that got me invited to the CCU)

Sega Genesis/Master System sets plus games and lots of fixings

My CCU anniversary is in early Sept. :) 2 years coming up.

Probably a SNES with all leads (including SCART/composite), two controllers, 6 boxed games, a complete boxed Mario Paint with the mouse etc.... £2 for the lot.

Second to that I must say a free copy of Vagrant Story, a copy of Vib-Ribbon for £1 or Alundra for £2.

Sadly I've never been lucky enough to find the super-rare/expensive games at a good price :(

Umm, probably Touch Detective on the DS, the game isn't that good, but I found it for 25$ when it first came out and right now, it's probably one of the hardest to find DS games, and Guilty Gear Judgement on the PSP, it's not really rare, but I found it for really cheap and I really love it.

This i a title that only recently came to my attention. It is not a hard to find game, but it is quirky.
