So, are you alone in your game collecting in each of your respective towns, or do you have to contend with a few other local collectors?  I used to be relatively unchallenged in my town for rare stuff, but that is no longer the case.  There are a couple of other collectors in my town, the biggest of which has about 350 games.  We clash on who gets to the good stuff first, and it's not my favorite thing.  So, do you know the other collectors around you?  Do you like them?  Do you help them with details on local sales, etc?  Or would you rather they go somewhere else?

When I was in Baltimore for college, I had a friend there who shared my love of collecting. Luckily, we have somewhat different tastes and our purchases never really overlapped. He tended to like modern import titles while I stuck with classic domestic releases. So we helped each other out, and we'd always order from Lik-Sang together to cut shipping costs.

Back home in Cleveland, I don't really know of any serious collectors. Everytime I go to my local exchange store or EB, the same games are always there. So while this means that new selections are fewer and farther between, it also lets me take my time purchasing. Plus I'm pretty friendly with the guys at my local EB, so they'll hold anything in the back for me if I ask them to.

I know ther'es other collectors in my area, but i don't actually know any of them. I know of one who owns his own shop and has taken a lot of money from me. My friend Dan is a quasi-Collector, he's more into playing games than keeping them. THough he will hold onto certain games, like the phantasy stars, the Tales of games, final fantasy and so on.

i would consider me the "major" collector in my town, most people dont go all out like me, i only know people who work at game stores that collect, and since im 15 and ive collected a lot of the older and newer game systems id consider myself far beyond that of someone else my age...

When I lived in my hometown there were 3 or 4 other big collectors,  we all got along pretty good and helped eachother out on finds that the other already owned.  Sometimes though it was a race to see who got the certain collectable goods first.  I worked at Game Crazy and one of the other guys worked at Gamestop so naturally I got the good games from my store and he got the good games from his.  Now since I moved I haven't found another real collector in my area.
Speaking of which anyone in the central Illinois area?

I was born and grew up in Rushville and my parents live in Jacksonville now, but I've been in Texas for the past several years.

I don't know any collectors around Boston. There have to be a few around but some of the stuff I've found makes me think there aren't that many.  At the mall I found a new castlevania: symphony original sealed game for $25.  It had been there for a week.

Well living in a large state like Victoria I'm sure there are other collectors out there but from the local pawn shops I hit they tell me most of the time the older games just sit there untill I come along :)

I'm pretty sure I'm the only one around here, but I seem to be molding a protege...a 12 year old kid in my gamer's club at the library.

I'd have no idea if there were other collectors.  My town is 150,000 people in the middle of a sprawl of 17 million people, so I'd assume there are other collectors out there fighting with me, but the selection at all the stores I go to is so mediocre it would be hard to tell if anyone is snatching up the good stuff -- because there is no good stuff.

I just read what I wrote, I must be melancholy because it took me 2 and a half hours to drive 27 miles to work today.

If there was someone with the same goals as me collecting-wise, I would definately try to cultivate a friendship with them.

I dunno of any other collectors in my local area either, and there's something like 130,000 people here (Barrie's a fast-growin' town ;))
