Right now I'm playing Scarface, but Morrowind and Dynasty Warriors 5 are always close at hand. And ywah, aspro, Snowblind's an awesome game. I wish it had picked up because the multiplayer's pretty damn cool.
Anyway, that's just on my XBox. On my GBA, I'm working on Shining Soul 2 and on my phone, I'm working on Doom (I'm at E1M2) again.Â
Just started playing King Of Fighters. The gameplay reminds me of the combo system in mortal kombat. Its a pretty decent game with tons of stuff to unlock. I just finished Xmen Legends 2 and can't wait for Marvel Ultimate Alliance.
I just finished Okami and am about to move onto Ico, which I fullishly didnt finish playing previously. I am also playing Castlevania: DS and Untold Legends: WC.
There are a few games that I am playing Semi-regularly. I still consider them actively being played because I have such little gaming time that if Ikaruga is in my GC, but I haven't touched it in a month, it honestly is still something I could pick up any day when I have a free moment.
Occasionally the woman and I will play the original SMB, which is the only game she will touch, other than a computer version of tetris. Im glad she will at least play one game, since most of my gaming and collecting habits are looked at not so warmly.

There is a certain event in Ico that I consider to be one of the absolute best moments in video game history, period! Er, I mean, exclamation mark! But I certainly don't want to ruin it for you. I think it completely and utterly breaks Roger Ebert's opinion that video games are not an art form.  I'm gonna blog about it someday, I swear. The final battle in that game is graphically impressive too, in an artistic sense. I have not seen anything like it before or since.Â
Anyway, moving on to the topic at hand: the Now Playing tab of the GS Games list.
Frankly, I don't use it.Â
My gaming habits are far too random and spastic to bother logging on a website. Just tonight I blitzed through Strider 2 (probably because of the thread on this board kindling my need to savor it's "flavor" again) and played my second bout of DDR Supernova since picking up the game on it's launch day. I'm still fairly regularly playing through Guitar Hero (gotta finish getting those 5-stars on hard), and Lego Star Wars II: OT (just gotta collect *ugh* everything). I suppose technically I'm still playing through Morrowind and FFX-2 even though I havn't touched those games in a few months; I know I'll pick up where I left off with them once I do get back on the horse.Â
I really don't see the point in trying to keep track of all this on GS. How does it benefit you? Seriously, I'm asking; what are your reasons?
I really like the other tabs (tracked games, collection, wish list); I see their purpose, their usefulness and I certainly make use of them.Â
What I'd like to see is a "completed" games tab. Where you can keep a log of all the games you've "finished" or "beaten" as the case may be. Eventually I'll post this under the Site Enhancements forum, but for now I'll just hold my tounge. I've thought of using the "Now Playing" list in this manner, but (and this may sound extremely silly and paranoid) I'm worried an admin might see it and consider it an abuse of the site and, I dunno, ban me or something. After all, how can I be "Now Playing" hundreds of games, even ones that don't appear in my "Collection". I know GS uses those numbers on a game's "Vital Stats", and I wasn't sure if artificially inflating those numbers could be construed as abusing the data on GS.
So here's another question I pose to you: Do you think a "Completed" games tab would be useful (or not)?

Up until about 2 years ago I was majorly undisciplined when it came to finishing games. I often kidded myself by claiming I was playing 4-6 games at a time -- ultimately though I was not playing any of them to their potential level of enjoyment. I was oblivious to this, but then my wife asked me, "When was the last time you actually finished a game?" I knew then that something had to change.Â
So I started to do two things that tie together your two questions above.  I use Now Playing as a regulator -- to hold me to account as to what games I am actually playing. Sure, I'll play a few levels of R-Type or NBA2K, or Soul Calibur (and similar games every week) but only the games I am committed to finishing go on Now Playing.
As for the Completed Games idea, I only review games that I have completed (or where so horrible I could not complete). I also do not rate any game with a score if I have not completed it. This gives me a good record of what I've played and the writing of a review gives me catharsis after completing a game.
When I wrote this topic though, it was more about why I collect games, and how the games I am currently playing illustrated that. Much like the games you mentioned -- it's great to read something about Strider and then walk over and pop it in -- that's what collecting is all about.

Honestly, I think that would be a great idea and feels like it would be a natural fit. There would be the obligitory arguements about what does "completed" mean. I.E. finished the game once, 100% unlocked, getting the best ending.... but hey, I guess some people just need things to argue about.

Truthfully, I should be using it for this purpose as well. I've fallen into the "unfinished games" trap recently myself. In the past month or so I've started, but not finished: Morrowind, FFX-2, Starcraft, Warcraft 1, Lego Star Wars 2: OT, and X-Wing (although I did finish this game years ago, this is a re-play).
I'd still like to have a completed games tab though. ^_^
