I would have to honestly say that the oddest peripheral I own is a LAN adapter for the Gamecube. Odd because except for Phantasy Star Online and (Mario Kart?) it is completely useless. At least my Atari 2600 paddles have purpose.
I guess the microphone for the Dreamcast that was packed in with Seaman also qualifies, but the coolness of Seaman validates it's possesion.
The oddest peripheral I want is a Super Scope (but I don't want to store it).Â
What do you think is the weirdest peripheral that you have, the weirdest peripheral that you want, and the weirdest peripheral that you've ever disocevered?
For me, the weirdest that I have is probably the Trance Vibrator for Rez and Space Channel 5.
The weirdest that I want is either the Tiny Bee guns for FF X-2 or the tamborine for Shakkato Tambourine on the Japanese PS2. I think Jeff Gerstmann has that game, lucky guy.
The weirdest that I've heard about is not so uncommon: the Dance Drum that you can get at Best Buy, at least. It takes most of the physical activity out of DDR, while still forcing you to buy a pad of some kind. The idea behind it is what I find strange, sort of anti-DDR, even though it depends on it. It's a little like al Qaeda using counterfeitgreenbacks to finance terrorism against the U.S.gmsnpr
Its suprising how well that analogy works.
Anyways..I dont have many wierd accessories. I have a few that I haven't seen very often, but Im sure are not very rare such as R.O.B. the robot (believe it still works and Ive had it since I got my NES back in the day), The wireless Atari 2600 remotes, and this thing that basically moves my PS2s power switch to the front of the console.
Wierdest one that I want? Either the powerglove or the superscope 6- Ive wanted one since it came out but never got around to getting one and by now Id feel pretty wierd using it (still want it though)
Wierdest one that Ive seen?I guess one of those rings that basically sense your movement and translate it into whatever game you are playing. I forget what system(s) it was for, or if it was even commercially released.

The first sounds desirable, and the second is the Activator for the Genesis, which was commerically released. I'd like to get one complete. It was compatible with some fighting games, Eternal Champions for sure. If you find a Genesis box with a graphic of "Activated" in a ring, then that's one which can be used with it. There was something similar for the NES, called the U-Force.this thing that basically moves my PS2s power switch to the front of the console.

No, I think Gmsnpr got it. I think it was the Activator for the Genesis. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sega_Activator
The video on the wiki page explains all. The activator used IR, they mapped the buttons and directional buttons to one of 8 IR's.If only there were a Sega version of, "The Wizard," then the villain could have said, "I love the Activator, it's so bad" instead.

Haha, Thats it.
Ive never actually seen one in person though. Maybe when I get off Ill see if any are on ebay just out of curiousity (Ebay is restricted at my office).
How about the buzzer peripherals for Buzz!, a gameshow game for the PS2.
There are several editions of the game. So far all of them are PAL only it seems.

That does seem like something that would have mass-market appeal (If priced correctly).
