Metroid 2: Return of Samus.
I don't know what it is but the game is just so.. atmospheric. Not to mention its so expansive. Oh and its one of the few games to still give me the hibijibies! (The other Being Adventure Island Part 2, which is also another favorite of mine)
How dare you make me choose..! >;[ Lunar Legend Edit: I forgot to say why. This is LUNAR in the palm of my hands and it's also great fun to play. I really enjoyed the fact that the random encounters weren't too frequent and the bosses were not too punishing, so I never felt like giving up on the game. And it looks great and is a visual treat for the GBA.Epoq
I remember Lunar Legend quite vividly as well. I took a bus trip to Pennsilvania and that game got me through it in style. Old school RPG with a ton of character and wit. A great choice.
Yeah Lunar is a great game....but to make me choose 1 game out of all that to rule .... damn.. how about a game that I am most interested in right now? Because if your like me, sometimes you go through times where your more interested in certain games then others.
Gosh, i still dont know hmm ok i know, Final Fantasy VIII and IX. Because they get no love, specially 8, everyone thinks it was a bad game, then IX was foreshadowed by X so much it didnt get the recognition it deserves.
You mean I have to choose?!?
Erm... oh hell, Bionic Commando. I have an unhealthy love affair with that one.
And of course, Baldur's Gate II. So very beardy.
You can't make me choose you can't make me! NO WAY! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Oh well, I actually choose Monster Hunter, for the Ps2. I was glad when I got the game. It's not a title many liked, and it's not very easy to play but I grew to love this game - mainly for the experience. Going toe to toe with these dragons with 3 other peeps, is thrilling without a doubt. It's tough, rough but when you slain a dragon and hear it's cry...it's prolly one of the most rewarding experiences i've ever had as a gamer.

Grrrr, I never got into the game, maybe I should give it a try. Is it still online?
Final Fantasy X --you kind of get attached to the characters really easycastlevaniap
Great choice man, I really dug that game too.

I would say yes, it prolly is, but there are prolly less people to play now (my friend's list was full in MH was full.) The teamwork function really does add to the experience, and you'll need it as the quests are tought online then they are in the offline game (the offline and online game modes are quite different. Monster hutner freedom 1 and 2 are also great games but I don't know if you cna play online with them or not. Monster Hunter 3 is supposally being made for PS3 so let's hope *cross fingers* that it does get released in the US. I was a longswordsman in the game (I think that's what they were called... been a while) So I'd be willing for another go around with it though I bet I'm rusty as sin.The thing that did hurt the game though, is that it's online format is a bit dated. But it does the job.
Wow. Um...hmmm. Well...yeah.
Ok...I reserve the right to change this as soon as the wind changes direction, but I'll go with Street Fighter II (SNES). I wore that game out. I was nearly unbeatable playing as Ken or Guile. SFII probably sucked the most hours of any non-RPG I own.

Looks like it'll be a Wii game that I'll be getting.
Oh Sonicboom, I got the news:
"Another fact to be noted is that from Jan 1st 2008, the original Monster Hunter server as well as the Resident Evil: Outbreak server went officially offline, due to the service provider quitting the Playstation 2 online business"
Makes you appreciate how microsoft has cut the 3rd party server thing out.

Well, you can't realistically expect third-party companies to continually support an online game forever.[QUOTE="waflerevolution"][QUOTE="GAMECAMILLER"]Oh Sonicboom, I got the news:

3rd party servers are mroe likely to shut down quicker then if it's run by a company. Heck who knows how many times some mmos switch servers. At least with MNonster Hunter there is a offline game. Though all the good stuff, huge monster battles and items were online...*sniff* I feel sad.

Yup, you sure can, but those expectations are still unrealistic. Why should a company maintain servers for a handful of people, if it gets down to that amount?[QUOTE="waflerevolution"][QUOTE="usagi704"][QUOTE="waflerevolution"][QUOTE="GAMECAMILLER"]Oh Sonicboom, I got the news:

gonna point out, that too is capcom.

Yup, you sure can, but those expectations are still unrealistic. Why should a company maintain servers for a handful of people, if it gets down to that amount?because they owe it to us. like old PC games, you can still get servers to run but with consoles it's just a horrible situation... I admit I'm still pretty peeved about LoC though...
Sword of Hope for the OGB (Original Game Boy). I picked it up loose from a friend of in the early '90's for $14.
It was the first turn-based RPG I played and I played it three times. It captures, for me, that sweet feeling that certain games provide of creating a place where you "live" for an extended period of time.
I've seen other people get that way about the GTAIII series and Elder Scrolls. It's kind of how I feel right now about Scarface, it's a place I can go where I'm in control but there is also some danger and risk involved.
RPG's are like that, where you are rolling along all leveled up feeling good, but some random battle might come along and knock you on your ass.
