In a seance with the Phantom of the CCU, Waflejohn told me that Wartech: Senko No Ronde, a game highly recommended by usagi704, is on sale this weekend at gamestop both instore and online, for just $9.99.

Thanks for the headsup, guess I'll have to go check it out. GS and 1up weren't exactly kind to it in their reviews, but for only $10...

I feel it is hard to appreciate this game unless you get into the nuances of the gameplay and play multiplayer. The single player is not good for much more than practice for multiplayer, but unfortunately there are very few online matches to be had with how little the game has sold. The only players I played against when I was playing the game were Japanese players. They were very good, which is no surprise since they have had it in arcades over there for quite awhile, but I still found it fun provided you get little lag in the match.

I honestly can't give any tips on the boss since I played it with a focus on multiplayer. Perhaps this primer for the game can give you some help.

It took me a while to find it. The EB/Gamestop employees kept buying out their entire stock to sell on Ebay. How easy/hard are the achievement points to get?

first off, this game is far better than the reviews show. the problem was it was released at $60, when it shouldve been a budget title, or maybe gone right to XBLA for 1200 points or less.

anyways, you want to kill the boss ship. I first did it with Mika. at the first part just try to take as little damage as possible and keep hitting X until you proceed to the next phase. this part nearly made me give up, and i hate giving up on games, but once you kinda learn the pattern, you're all set.

you've got two vertical walls and a small gap between them. behind that are two turrets, and behind that is a laser beam with a shield as well as missile launchers. i find the best way to go about it is hide behind one wall and when the laser dies down, begin strafing across the gap, i did it while holding RT to control my aim a bit more. once the turrets are out, you've got to use the same pattern, but be quick and hit the laser before it goes back into its shielding. i usually will peek out when the laser first starts to get the missiles to shoot at me, then duck back. once they hit, move right beside the laser beam and as it dies down, start bombarding it with everything you got. should take about 5-6 passes to blow the bugger.

the last part is just a pain in the ass. there are 3 things to be very aware of. first, the orbs fired from the core itself. second, the rotating wall protecting the core. third, the orbs that fire horizontally.

after many attempts, what i finally did was just hold down RT, watch for the rotating wall, and when i had a chance id rush in, bombard the core, duck back when the wall came back around. its sloppy and stupid, but as long as you dont get caught by the wall, you should be able to do it in a few salvos.

There are three stages to the ship, in the first stage you have to shoot the turrets in the centre on the left and on the right,

On the second stage you have to fire at the two turrets in the middle while hiding behind the two blocks of metal so not to get shot down, then when you have taken down the two turrets its just you and the beam when the beam is about to retract into itself run into the middle of the beam and fire into the gun,

the third stage is simple just fire directly into the large orange sphere.

I still see some copies of this game floating around - though lately all i've seen is used copies.

If anyone wants to try for the online achievements, just drop me a pm. I need to get a few more too.
