I'm sure most of us collect just about any video game we can get a hold of, but what are you currently focusing on in your collection?

I am focusing on US release Dreamcast games at the moment. You can still get these at certain EBgames and Gamestops. I like to buy in bulk when these stores have buy 2 get 1 free sales and use my discount card on top of that for a pretty good savings. This past weekend one Gamestop had a bin of buy 1 get 2 free. I found three games that I didn't have yet.

I also like to pick up current system specific games for GameCube and Playstation 2 at these stores. I mainly play current generation games on my Xbox, so whenever I can I pick a few of these up for cheap I do.

I am slowly building my Sega Master System collection. This is going to be a slow process, since I am trying to get completes with out paying big money.

My largest collection that I'm working on is the US Release games for the NES. 8-bit is way ahead of me on this, but i'll get there someday. I like to buy a big lot of these on eBay and then sell off what I already have to pay for the ones I need for my collection.

I like picking up any game i find interesting, language or platform mean little to me. It's fairly obvious, just by looking at my profile colelction and sorting it out by genre that driving and sports games are not genre's I like very much. However, Light gun, shoot'em ups, platformer/adventure games, RPG's and hack and slash games are among my favorite genre's. Shooth'em up's are particularly easy for me to get a hold of and justify spening money on for imported titles because you don't need to understand japanese to play most of them.

I am trying to get every major system release and some of the key games for those systems. I only need 5 or 6 more consoles and handhelds. I usually get them off of ebay with a bunch of games included so the purchase is worth it.

There are quite a few games that I want for all my systems that I keep an eye out for, if I see them anywhere in a store, I get them just so I won't kick myself later, otherwise, i use ebay.

Looks like we have a similar goal with DC games.

How far along are you? Do you try and get completes of them or just the disc?

In my profile, I state my favorite genres. I want every good game in my favorite genres with no regard for the platform. Since we've talked about Dreamcast, I'll use that as an example. I have about half the domestic DC games, but I only want about 10 more. I think that aside from ease in description as in the following example:

"What games do you have on Platform X?" says Collector #1.
"All of them." says Collector 2.

that there isn't much to be gained by getting every game there is for particular platforms. It's not like Pokemon and I don't have to "catch 'em all." I don't like sports games, so that cuts down on the possible titles I'd buy, and I also don't like games that suck, which cuts down on the possible titles I'd buy. I have a penchant for buying RPGs, and I'll probably continue collecting them until I have all of the previously-released ones. I have a little over 200 across all platforms, so I've made a dent, but there's still some work to be done.

i only have 31(2 copies of Soul Caliber)

yes i do try for completes but if i find a rare game that i want to play and it doesnt have a manual or proper case and its cheap ill buy it.
