ok, so it's a system requiring various peripherals to play wii-ish sports games. it came out in 2004, and yet i'm just now learning about it, even though it's completely still available ($79 on amazon, games around $49 with peripherals)

so who knows anything about this thing? anyone actually own one? $79 for a new console is hard to resist, even if it sucks ass.

i want one.

I have seen a couple of those things around here, a bit much now considering you could just buy a Wii and get a bunch of games that are just like it.

You've piqued my interest. I have seen these at Fry's, but that was before the Wii and they were priced much more than $80. I'd be very interested it, but the games are pretty pricey (upward for $50).

I like that the system uses cartridges. That's one of the many things I miss about previous generations.

Mostly because carts are much more well protected than regular CDs. Things will improve though once Blu-Ray discs become more popular.

Yeah carts are pretty much indestructable unless you drop them in acid or run over them in an 18-wheeler. You can almost guarantee that a second-hand cart will work (although the backup battery might not), whereas with a disc you never can tell. I've got pre-owned discs that look like drinks coasters and they work perfectly, a couple that look brand new yet have issues.

Plus a cartridge looks... I dunno... more *real*.
