You are absolved for your confession.
Those were excellent. I'll have to go into some kind of deep therapy to pull out some collecting confessions. I don't think I have anything as shocking as those though!
Though I have many RPGs in my collection across several consoles, I have never yet completed or beat an RPG. I like them, and I like collecting them, but just never put in the time to play one all the way through.
There's a few of them:
When I was in Kindergarten, I would fake sickness so my mom would take me home and I would lay in bed and play Contra and RBI baseball all day. After a while, she caught on to my "illness"
I'm not a big fan of the Legend of Zelda series eventhough I own a ton of them. I once bought a copy of the Zelda collectors edition for the GC just to piss off a bunch of my friends who couldn't find it. I finally opened it last year after owning it for about two and a half years. That made me feel bad for a while, considering how they would come over and always want to try it and I KEPT IT IN PLAIN SITE UNOPENED JUST TO TAUNT THEM HAHA.
I ALSO think most FPS's are boring. BTW, I despise the World of Warcraft series. I've seen it ruin the lives of a few people I know and I refuse to even try it.
When I was 16, I played Pokemon Red so much that the timer stoped working at 99:59.
Before the age of downloadable rosters, I would update the rosters myself and then sell my saves to my friends or even get games for it. Hence the reason why I own a few really horrible PS2 and GBA games.
Final Fantasy 7 Spoiler Alert:
I also shed a tear when Aeris was stabbed through the back by Sephiroth in FF7 and admit to having to stop playing Resident Evil 2 because I thought I was going to crap myself in the library.
I own a copy of Final Fantasy 11, that I couldn't get to work online on the PS2 and stopped trying after the first day [thanks Sony and Square-Enix]
I played through BMX XXX just to watch the "videos"
I've considered buying Rumble Roses XX
I own Halo 1 and 2, but have never played them. As a matter of fact, I've only played Halo 3 for about a half hour. Like I said FPS=zZzZZzZzZzZZzZzz
I own 3 DDR dancepads...
I have played Virtual Boy for so long at times that when I closed my eyes, I saw red. [I thought I was going to go blind actually haha]
I think that's about it...
Here are some of my confessions
I just want to say this is a fantastic thread so far, good contributions everyone. :]
And with that said, here's my confession:
- I bought a brand new boxed Dreamcast keyboard even though I knew it is now completely useless.
- I have a thing for collecting rare dating sim games that I import from Japan because I really love the excellent packaging design. I don't actually play them. (although I can read Japanese, but that's besides the point...)
- I have destroyed my Tekken Dark Resurrection UMD not once but twice so far. No other game in the past ten years can get up my spine like this game does.
- I went to my local Best Buy yesterday and bought the last 5 copies of Rune Factory for the DS. It's the only Best Buy within 200 miles of my area that had any copies.
- A few months ago, I went out and bought my first PS2 ever. For those wondering... yes, I've pretty much been under a gaming rock ever since it came out.
- I've never really liked the Street Fighter games.
- There is no pr0n on my PSP.
- Back in 1997 I paid $60 for Cruis'n'USA for the N64. That wasn't even worth $30 let alone $60... to this day I still think about that mistake.
aspro - with regards to #8, unless your children are oblivious to the world around them, they will know. I tried hiding it all from my kids but they figured it out. However, they know the rules and I am teaching them about the proper care of games and systems. I still have several duplicate systems and games (one for me to keep nice and one for them to mess up) but I will occasionally let they some of my games. And under no circumstances are their friends ever allowed to touch my collection.
As for my confessions:
- I will often times defend game series to my ignorant gaming friends when I haven't actually played anything from the series myself.
- All the Gamestop employees at my local Gamestop know me by name and have my cell #. They will call me when something interesting comes in that they think I might like. They will often put things on hold for me without me asking them to. Yes I know wafle, GS is evil, but the guys at my store are actually really cool.
- I love movie-based games. I don't know why but I can't get enough of them.
- The only sports game I own (racing games don't count) is Harry Potter Quidditch World Cup.
- I'm very impatient and I get frustrated when my bids loose on e-bay. Unfortunately that leads to me clicking the Buy It Now link so I don't have to deal with the auction crap.
- I will always buy a new/sealed copy of a game even when a perfect good used one can be found.
- I will piece together a good complete copy of a game by buying multiple copies for the good pieces and then after I have my good complete copy I'll return the crappy components for a full refund.
- I always buy the strategy guide for an RPG if one exists.
- I sometimes put myself to sleep by reviewing the different games that want to have in my collection that aren't already there.
- I owned three Game & Watch systems when I was young: Donkey Kong (dual screen), Donkey Kong Jr, and Donkey Kong II (dual screen). Their whereabouts are unknown.
I just want to say this is a fantastic thread so far, good contributions everyone. :]
And with that said, here's my confession:

You can still play Typing of the Dead with your keyboard. And yeah cIassic responses to this thread indeed.

8. Although I am 24, my parents would flip if they saw the amount of games I have.- blame them they started it when i was little right?
9. I have never played a Mega-Man game in my life. - sad but true
10. Between Final Fantasy VII and X i have more thne 500 hours put into those 2 games.
1. I'm on my 3rd atari 2600. Looking for my 4th one.
2. I own NES, SNES, Game Gear carts without actually owning a system (broken or wokirng) to play them on.
3. With all the freaking systems I own, from the common to the rare, I actually have never once owned a SNES. Ever.
4. I refuse to buy anything off of ebay, or anything similar.
5. I haven't played any Grand Theft Auto games besides 1 and 2. Never gotten around to buying one.
6. I own many games that I have yet to play, and even open.
I feel bad now. HAPPY?

Holy crap Courtney, We have to get you a SNES. I have an extra one in my house somewhere, if I find it and it's in good condition, we should talk. I'd sell it for a decent price.

Yeah, you'd think I'd have one especially concidering all the other stuff I got. But I haven't really even looked to be honest. Last year I really focused on the sega side of things, getting my dreamcast, two working saturns, sega cd, and 32x (as well as a lot of games. I'll prolly get a SNES this year. That'll be my gaming resolution. ;)As a side note I did own a NES, as well as a lot of games, but it broke down when I was a kid, and we sold a good number of games (i was a kid and it was for my jumpstart into the PSone era, and I finally got sick of my broken NES). I actually have a ill feel towards the NES (mainly because I had so many issues with it as a kid). So, i've never really desired one really (especially since all the games I wnated to play have either been released ont eh vc now, or as bonuses in other nitnendo games). So I got some ill towards nintendo's early days. xD
I'd like to get a game gear this year, Might actually get one (gonna ask my contacts in the nearby flea market to see if they can sell me one).
Oh, let's see here...
1. I have probably never actually sat down and played close to 60% of my collection. Most of them have seen the system to make sure they work, but I haven't spent any time with the biggest part of them. I seem to come back around to the same ones...it's part of the reason why I've started reviewing them.
2. Major game franchises that I've never played (regardless of whether or not I own one or more of them)
-Tomb Raider
-Doom
-Final Fantasy (past the first one)
-Dragon Warrior/Quest (again, past the first one)
I'm sure there are more, but that's off the top of my head.
3. I own both Rumble Roses games (finished the first one...unlocked everything, played all modes, etc.), and DOA:XBV.
4. I played my first video game at age 2...in 1981.
Impossible...!! :othat's what I was thinking. oo-I've never played an NES game.Epoq

-I've never played an NES game.

not even a port of one?
Well, I've played ports of Super Mario Bros. and The Legend of Zelda, but I think that's about it.
that counts. I win.
4. I refuse to buy anything off of ebay, or anything similar.gamecamillerI've actually had many more problems with people on there when I sell rather than buy, even with all of the policies I set for my auctions in the description. As an example, I currently have two PayPal complaints going on that the same time! Neither of these idiots contacted me before doing so either. >_>

Hmmm, I can't think of any main ones but I guess:
Not only did I buy the poor Sonic Battle Adventure 2 or whatever its called, but then I went and bought Sonic and the Secret Rings.
Sonic seems to be the blunt of every gaming joke with me and my mate :D
My confession for today:
I've never played Diablo 2, any of the Warcraft series, Quake, or Halflife.
CodingGenius
So much good gameplay there :)
- I have actually been killed by the first Goomba you meet in Super Mario Bros. Don't ask me how.Epoq
Ditto on that one. I think everyone who's played it a lot has, because you get lulled into a false sense of mastery.
I loved SA2B, and sonci and the secret rings.Hmmm, I can't think of any main ones but I guess:

The only sonic game i ever truly hated is SONIC THE HEDGEHOG (ps3, and 360). That game made me cry. That game shouldn't have been rushed.Thank god they stopped production on it.
I've never played a Diablo game too.

sonic adventure 2: battle as great. where's the joke?
For the first time ever, I bought a game that I forgot I already had. This happened just last week, and the game was EA Replay (PSP) $9. I need to remember to return that to Best Buy.
OK, this one I'm actually kinda afraid to admit around here. I've moved twice in the past year and to conserve on room I (carefully!) broke down my cartrige based game boxes to flatten them out and pack them all into one box. Not all boxes were broken down though, some were kept as is so I could put the instruction booklets from the other boxes into them. All duplicates of Nintendo Power leaflets were tossed though, as were styrofoam inserts in the NES boxes. I'm starting to deeply regret this as I'm typing this out. Please.... don't kick me out of the union. :(

Welcome to the club. I just finished clearing out the duplicates (duplicates, mind you) of my boxed (only boxed) SMS, Genesis, 32X, Sega CD and Saturn games. There were ~45. Some were from purchasing lots, but some were from early strikes of senility. For the first time ever, I bought a game that I forgot I already had. I ignore the second paragraph in protest. Harumph.
Ok, so my confessions are:
I buy the most bizarre game related stuff (mario keyboard wrist guards, street fighter boxing toy, playing cards)
I subscribed to Nintendo magazine because in the future I could look back and look up info.
In light of the above, I collect old magazines (have over 200 of them)
I hate 3rd party peripherals, especially controllers
I havent played half the games I own, let alone complete them :)
I tend to play a game for ages and not complete it, i.e. God of War, FFVII and Phantom Hourglass are my current non-finishers.
And...erm I bought a copy of Starfox years ago wrapped, and havent opened it since lol.
Lately, for reasons unknown to me, I've been purchasing games, but not getting down into playing them. Big_Evil666
This is called "Collector-itis", and it affects everyone who joins this union. Don't be ashamed. We're here to help!

Fair enough...fair enough.
I own 29 factory sealed copies of Razor Freestyle Scooter for N64 (don't ask).Mop_it_upWow. I thought I was bad. At one point I had 9 factory-sealed copies of Eternal Eyes on PS1, but that was transitory. There was a clearance sale on them on one side of town and a store with a high buy price on the other side.
