Ok so if this has been done before I don' care cause I couldn'tfind it in the backlog. So as collectors we have alot of games, some more than others, so it must be hard to decide what your best games are. Well here is where we decide what are top 10 favorite games, so yea go ahead :D. Also don'ttink anything is permanent, you can always come and re-post an edit :)

  1. Metal Gear Solid (PS1)
  2. Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes (GC)
  3. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (PS3)
  4. Ratchet and Clank 3: Up Your Arsenel (PS2)
  5. Banjo-Tooie (N64)
  6. Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater (PS2)
  7. Banjo-Kazooie (N64)
  8. Ratchet and Clank: A Crack in Time (PS3)
  9. Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patroits (PS3)
  10. Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty (PS2)

Ok just listing those took me about an hour! As you can see Metal Gear Solid took a big role here, love that series in general and it was hard to sift them all on. MGS1 is by far my favorite as the best cast of voice actors in any game and one of the best plots aswell. The pacing of the game is brilliant and the characters them seleves are incredably detailed and thought out. The remake Twin Snakes (GC) came in a close second and only lost by a fraction, I weighed out the diffrences, for instanance the cutscenes are overall "better" than the original but some of the characters voice acotors were off and acted as if they didn 't want to be there. Overall both too good games but there can only be one winner. Both are solid games and if you haven't played either I'd sugest you go play The Twin Snakes as now some of you won'beble to deal with the PS1's graphics. But you need to play either none the less. You can play MGS on PS1, PC and they released it on the PSN Store. The remake is actully hard to come by and can go up to 70GBP on eBay...But its worth it!

In no order:

Halo: Combat Evolved
Myst 2: Riven
Max Payne
Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Mass Effect 2
Trials HD
Portal
Modern Warfare 2
Infamous
Crackdown

These games made the list off the top of my head because of how impressed I was with these games and because of the fond memories I have of playing them. Also, these are all games that I played all the way through.

In no real particular order, since that would come down to a tooth and nail fight in my head to decide who walks away with #1

  • Metal Slug 3 (REALLY hard to decide between this one and X, but in the end, 3 takes it)
  • Mega Man 2
  • Half Life 2 Episode 2
  • Pokemon Silver
  • Street Fighter III Third Strike
  • Fire Pro Wrestling Returns
  • Ninja Gaiden (Xbox)
  • River City Ransom
  • Fable
  • Resident Evil 2

My "favorite" games are always changing but here are some games that for me never get old: in other words I can replay them over and over again and not get bored.

1. Metal Slug (i like all the metal slug games, even the 3d one had it's charm)

2. R-Type love the music in the c64 version (I like all the R-Type games)

3. Raiden DX (my favorite of the series)

4. Raiden Fighters (again the first one is my favorite, but I like them all)

5. Castlevania Rondo of Blood

6. Donkey Kong Country 2

7. Contra

8. Punch Out

9.C&C red alert 2 (put on hell's march and destroy the enemies base!)

10. Fighting games, yeah I know it's a genre not a specific game, but as long as I have a buddy playing with me I can play just about any fighting game all day long.

lol funny thing is that ive been trying to narrow d run in my own top 50 games of all time but i can't get enough play through because i have a huge backlog and ididn't have an snes (just went to my friends house whenever i wanted to play) but here is my list

  1. kotor 2 (xbox) it was a broken game but i love the fact that i can turn my companions to jedi and the level cap was much higher
  2. shinging force (genesis)- this was my first rpg. it was awesome. i loved strat rpg's. it aged well 2 since i finished it last year and it was just as awesome as the first time i played it
  3. counter strike pre 1.6(pc)- the first fps i was addicted to. i threw away a whole summer of playing 10 hours a day in the internet cafe's. this is where my love for fps was born
  4. kotor (xbox) this was the reason i even bought and xbox in the first place. i wasn't dissapointed. awesome story and great battle system
  5. gta:sa (ps2) i love this simply because its about the child hood that i lived through. gangbanging, drugs, and the ghettoness was the biggest draw for me. also this was the best ga made imo
  6. final fantasy x (ps2) the best ff that i have played simply because of this:there are no party members that are left unused. in other ff games, some party members are swapped out so they don't feel like they are a part of a battle unless they are put in the party. ffx was awesome that you can swap party members.
  7. cod 4 (ps3) this game blew my mind back when i first played it. still play it often. this is still the gold standard in shooters for me.
  8. command and conquer (pc)-this was my first experience in rts games. i was blown away by the depth and strategy of this game.
  9. tekken 2 (arcade) i sucked at fighting games. i was horrible at sf2. this game was the first fighting game i was good at. unlike vf2, tekken 2 was more realistic looking and was easy enough to get into, but the depth of this game was massive.
  10. this is a toss up between 2 games. and ill put both down because i can't decide

royal rumble (snes) i was a big wrestling fan when i was younger and this is still by far the funnest wrestling game ever. this was the first time i saw special moves performed and it had the royal rumble mode. me and my friends use to spend hours playing this game. i was either brett hart or mr. perfect...

finfal fantasy 7(ps1)- the most heartfelt story in video games imo. advanced for its time with the summons. okay battle system....one of the dopest villains in video games ever.

as you can tell none of the mario/zelda games made it to my top ten, but if you ever read my blog, i wasn't a big gamer until the ps2 era. i always rented or just played half an hour or an hour of snes games from my friends house. but if you expanded this to 25, a couple of snes and nes games would have made it....but yea kotor 2 is my all time fav game

Basically off the top of my head-

5. Kingdom Hearts II

4. BioShock 2

3. Fallout 3

2. Kingdom Hearts

1. BioShock

Can't even think of a top ten at the moment..
Keep in mind there are ALOT of games i haven't played yet that i would really like to. I've always loved gaming, but i've only really gotten really into it in the past six months, so i'm kinda new to alot of it. This list will probably change significantly in the next year or so. Except for BioShock. That will always be my number one.

Bearing in mind that these are my favourite games and not necessarily the best games ever, and of course subject to change on a whim:

1.  Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn (PC)

2.  Deus Ex (PC)

3.  System Shock 2 (PC)

4.  Grandia (PS1)

5.  Star Wars: TIE Fighter (PC)

6.  Burnout 3: Takedown (PS2)

7.  Fallout 3 (PC)

8.  Super Mario World (SNES)

9.  Bionic Commando (NES)

10.  Final Fantasy IX (PS1)

Honourable mentions:  Knights of the Old Republic (XB), Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening (GB), Dragon Quest VIII (PS2), Mass Effect (X360), Resident Evil 2 (PS1), SMT: Digital Devil Saga (PS2), Mega Man 3 (NES) and lots of others that could easily slot into that top 10 depending on how I feel.

The top three, though, never change, except maybe the order in which I rank them.

Number 1 is the only set place, the rest are in no particular order (sorry...too hard to decide)

1. Dragon Warrior/Quest (NES) - My first video game RPG and still the game that had the most impact on me, both emotionally and in regards to what is still my favorite type of game & genre: Straight up old school RPGs with turn-based battle engines. *Sigh* A dying genre-type in this age of uber-action and graphics...again...*SIGH*

---No particular order beyond here---

2. Resonance of Fate (X360,PS3) - This is a new gen RPG that has not only used an 'old school' turn-based battle engine...RoF took the t-b battle engine and turned it up to 11!! In truth, there is a strong mix of action and strategy that proves invaluable to the t-b set-up, but at heart, it is still classic t-b. Not to mention you get one of the best stories and cast of characters that has been put to disc in some time! And ironically enough, the voice acting actually makes this game better as I guarantee you will laugh out loud more than once! (Rated M btw)

3. Ultima IV: Quest of the Avatar (NES plus several others) - Another NES RPG that literally took me for an unforgettable journey.

4. Syberia (XBOX and a few others) - Benoit Sokal's unforgettable steampunk-based adventure game. There are two games I love because you are constantly enveloped by the most surreal atmosphere...

5. Shadow of the Colossus (PS2) - ...the second of the two games I love because of the surreal atmosphere. Not to mention that feeling you get the first time you scale that cliff side and climb to the top to face your first Colossus! *Shivers* Still gives me goose bumps.

6. Shenmue (DC) - Unbelievable action adventure game! Along with great characters and the beginning of a great story that we will sadly never know how it all ends.

7. Lost Odyssey (X360) - Another new gen RPG that uses a classic t-b battle engine with a slight twist (the Aim Ring System). A fantasy story packaged nicely with great writing and voice acting.

8. Guitar Hero [et al] (Multiplat) - I have to admit...when I first had access to playing GH, I couldn't put it down. And once I got good enough to beat the 1st and 2nd GH on expert, I was an addict for a long time! Though I rarely play anymore, the GH series will always hold a special place in my gamers heart.

9. Grandia II (DC, PS2, Win) - I played the DC version and have heard that the PS2 version is not as good. So all I will attest to is the DC version. Grandia II uses one of the best battle systems I've ever had the privilege to play. Accompanied by a touching JRPG story and cast of characters.

10. Beyond Good & Evil (Multiplat) - I own and beat the GC version for the record. I have 3 words to say about this game: Fun, Fun, and Fun!! A unique and funny game that really allows for a lot of fun and funny action! A flying hovercraft, a space ship, a camera, and a Dai-jo are all accessible for your action-adventure pleasure. Clever and witty writing and voice acting are another attribute to this game.

There are many more I'd love to cram into that list, but as it stands today...this is my Top 10..ish :P

I thought it was ok, nothing special, except for those short stories which were excellent. A decent battle system but like most JRPGs really didn't require much strategy and wasn't exciting to look at, a mixture of great, good, and terrible characters, story was different and it was good. I liked Tales of Vesperia much more, battle system was more fun, characters were all great, hell it even made the kid in the game a useful and contributing member of the party who even saves everyone at one point (I've never seen that before in a JRPG). I definetely thought it was better than FF13 where I thought everything but the visuals was awful.

LO is one of my favs because it seems to be one of the last of a dying genre...turn-based RPGs. LO was also the first current-gen console game I played and I was hooked from day one. Like Legolas said...those short stories were amazing. And being a turn-based fan, I liked the battle system, but I suppose this is all just a matter of opinion. I fell in love with the story and characters...but then I'm a sucker for a great story.

I do wish there were more turn-based RPGs out for the current gen consoles, but there isn't...I can count on one hand how many are released for the 360. In my opinion, it is a shame. Honestly, I blame the FPS genre for killing the turn-based RPG. Why is it gamers are crazy for toting a machine gun around killing everything in thier path? It just doesn't appeal to me...Fallout 3 is as close to an FPS I can get...and a lot of that is due to the story and the turn-based option during battle.

But now I'm soapboxing, so I'll quit. I know LO wasn't for everyone, but for an old RPGer like me...it was a small gem in the new age of video games.
