It's hard to say, mainly because it's hard to judge people when they've not even finished their first season. But the fact that this is the first season for both of them in a McLaren, it makes it a bit easier to compare. Hamilton has more points than Alonso, more podiums than Alonso, and more pole positions than Alonso. They've both won the same number of races this season, and both have not retired once this season. Statistically then it's fairly close, but I think it's too early to compare them really. Going by 2007 statistics, it's Hamilton. Going by details from previous F1 seasons, it's Alonso.
Alonso cracked this weekend.. Lewis, IMO and hopefully he can hold on to the top spot of the overall classification now and extend his 7 point advantage.
Hamilton he's just great. He outdid Alonso at his own game: the late breaking, remember Indy? It was heartstopping for Hamilton fans as Alonso lined up with him a 205mph but Lewis did it, he made it stick and held it. It shows he's a great.
