PRE-WARNING TO ALL OF YOU HEADING FOR SILVERSTONE THIS WEEKEND:

Due to torrential weather conditions recently here, many fields which would be open for cars to park in will be CLOSED as many are waterlogged from the continuous rain here. Camping will still be allowed on these fields, but not cars. Just be warned guys, the weather has been pretty bad here. Friday's not looking too bad, and all should be fine for Saturday's qualifying, however the unpredictable rain patches should be back on Sunday, which will mean a mixed-up race most likely. Just be warned that you may struggle to find places to stay if you are heading here this weekend. The warning's just been given on our local news.

Redders

CURRENT WEATHER REPORTS FOR THIS WEEKEND (From SATURDAY):
Saturday - Sunny, Partially Cloudy (Max temp 19C, Min 11C)
Sunday - Sunny, Partially Cloudy(Max Temp 21C, Min 11C)

With the way things have been here recently though, don't count on anything being 100% guaranteed yet. I'll change things if the weather reports change here.

SILVERSTONE MINIMISES RAIN DISRUPTION:

The Silverstone authorities have put a number of measures in place to ensure that the recent torrential rain in the UK does not disrupt fans' journeys to this weekend's British Grand Prix.

Britain has been ravaged by inclement weather for the past three weeks, and there has been severe flooding in some parts of the country.

Silverstone has built new temporary roadways to strengthen its existing hard-surface car parks, and has working with the police and local authorities to monitor the nearby independent campsites used by race-goers.

"The recent weather conditions have affected the entire country," said Silverstone's managing director Richard Phillips.

"Whole sections of the UK are under water; Wimbledon looks set to go into a third week; and the Royal Show at Stoneleigh Park has been forced to finish a day early.

"We've been keeping a close eye on the weather and have now actioned a number of contingency plans to minimise disruption to the fans and ensure that the customer experience is not compromised."

Silverstone has urged fans without car park passes and event tickets not to attempt to come to the circuit, and reminded fans with park and ride passes that they should use the dedicated bus service rather than bringing their cars to the track.

The circuit bosses also advised spectators to allow extra time to get to Silverstone, and to expect minor travel disruption.

Conditions are expect to improve for the weekend, although some rain is forecast for Saturday and Sunday.

Featured in this weekends British GP buildup:

  • how lewis has 8 podiums and 2 wins in 8 races
  • we will once again be reminded of how lewis' dad worked 35 hours a day doing 9 different jobs to finance lewis' career
  • ....and how lewis met ron at an autosport award
  • ....and once again 8 podiums , 2 wins
  • Then a word from lewis' dad
  • ....and again how he worked overtime for lewis
  • then back to steve doin an interview with lewis and his "great start to the season"
  • how he is compared to prost, senna, schumacher, jesus etc...

As it's not up yet, Lewis Hamiltongoes fastest in Practice Session 1 with a 1:21.100, Kimi Raikkonen is 2nd, 0.111 seconds behind, Massa 3rd by almost 2 tenths and Alonso is 4th, nearly 6 tenths down on his teammate. Full results when someone changes the first post!

I don't mind. After all, it gives people a chance to discuss extra things rather than the practice, quali & race sessions...

It's almost half way through the season, so I guess kimi wants to show Ferrari that he's better than massa so that he gets their support in the next half. I expect an interesting fight between kimi and massa this weekend, each one wants to prove that he deserves the first seat in the team.

Wow.. I was there and the crowd went absolutely crazy when Lewis crossed the line to take pole.. it was like being at a football match and a goal being scored. Amazing stuff. I also got a nice view of a GP2 car hitting the wall today, although I'm not sure who the driver was.

Sweet, were you there on FRiday? I may have seen you, were there loads of people there today? There were a lot more than I expected on Friday, so god knows what it was like today.

Yep, I was there on Friday. The traffic was absolutely horrible, and we missed free practice 1 on Friday and free practice 3 today. We only just sat down as the green light went on for Qualy 1 after being stuck in the traffic for 3 and a half hours. There seemed to be double the amount of people there today as there was on Friday, and there were about 50% more people here today than there were at the actual Grand Prix last year. I don't even want to imagine the traffic chaos tomorrow..

Well, weather reports last night stated heavy rain was heading Silverstone's way for the race today. However, these reports have changed yet again and now for the race it predicts that no rain will come whatsoever and that it's going to be a sunny day with barely any clouds in the skies.

Why oh why does it have to rain everyday for almost a month, and then when it comes to the 2 most important days in the UK for F1 does it stay PERFECTLY DRY!?! :( AND I've just found out in the UK it's raining everywhere apart from here. Typical eh?

Well the Iceman won, he drove a good race. Such a shame Hamilton didn't win at home. I also thought Massa drove fantastically after his stall. Alonso did well too, special mention to Kubica for holding back MAssa. It really helped Hamilton's championship!

well "jesus" just finished 39.3 seconds behind the winner, and I think u'll agree the better man won

Also I liked the way he did a schumacher and cut across Kimi at the start....which of course, is ok because someone other than schumacher did it....
