I am a fan of most motorsports. I follow over a dozen different racing series's and watch almost every race I can throughout the season. I am a huge fan of both NASCAR and F1 but lately I've noticed a trend of NASCAR fans bashing F1 and F1 fans bashing NASCAR. Now I realize that neither sport is perfect but I see good quality racing in both series's. There are pros and cons in NASCAR and F1. I think if fans from either side just sat down and watched some of the good racing then that would stop alot of the arguments. Now I've heard the argument that NASCAR is boring and its just about turning left lap after lap. NASCAR is not just about that. There is a strategy of when to pit, what to do during that pit to improve your car, and during the race if and when you should attempt to pass the car in front of you. Throughout an entire NASCAR race there is almost a guarantee of multiple leaders and around five drivers during any race will have a chance to win. The most exciting moments for a NASCAR race sometimes comes down to the last lap and its not uncommon to see a race decided by less then half a second which is very exciting. i get an adrenaline rush every time I watch those finishes and trust me it is not boring. Here are some of the most exciting NASCAR finsishes:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jU2JEpLOpv4

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ziQ9ja8zbM

All of these races were within the last ten years and were decided by a fraction of a second. NASCAR can be very exciting and entertaining. Its not all about turning left and its not easy to win one of these races. NASCAR drivers have to drive a 3,000 pound car with less horsepower then an F1 car and with less grip with 1-3 cars around them at all times for over 3 hours. It isn't easy and it is physically demanding. Its good racing and it deserves respect.

You mean 3000 kg.
Yeah, NASCAR car are massively heavy and hard to drive.
But that's not a problem at all when you're driving around in a circle.
I don't understand why some NASCAR races are 300 laps long in a circle.
There needs to be a mixture of corners, not just big easy ones.

I may joke about Nascar having a wheel that turns one direction but it is very difficult to over take cars that run near same specifications as you so you are forced to drive off drag from the car ahead and slipstream your way forward. There have been equally boring races in F1 as I imagine there has in Nascar, Indycar, Touring Cars, WRC etc.

But as all sports do, motorsports devide opinion externally (fans versus none fans) and internally (Nascar fans versus F1 fans, WRC fans versus WTCC fans). I would just let it go over you. It is a lot like the battle between American Football and Soccer/Football where people rag on each others sports due to perhaps a lack of understanding of the rules or simply the games are two very different types of sport.

This isn't hard when there are many cars to slipstream though.
But it is very easy to spin NASCARs.
Not as much skill is involved in this compared to F1.

Well I dont know as I have not drived in either. The video game equivliant I actually find harder because you need an exact line going through the corners and you need to be exact in when to over take, too late and you run wide allowing several cars past you, too early and you run out of track potentially or run out of extra power from the slip stream and thus slow down allowing another car to take your place in the pack.

I would say both are equally skilled and pay wise I think they are about the same for the top drivers. Also there is less room for error in Nascar as you have a big concrete wall running next to you ready to take you out if you make a mistake, where as most F1 tracks outside of the street circuits are designed with long run off areas.

Haters gonna hate.

Everything has their pros and cons. Certain things might appeal to some and not others. I used to be a huge NASCAR fan, til I finally saw my first F1 race, 98 Canadian GP on TV. And my NASCAR appeal slowly dropped as F1 went up.

I'll still watch NASCAR if it's on but for me I'm just more of a casual fan. I'm curious to hear what's going on in the series but I won't watch the entire race for 4 hours. Nor do I hate on it. Just like Garfield said, any fanbase vs another fanbase will always have blind, ignorant comments for one another.

No you Euro-ninny. 3000lbs. You want to know the difference here? Americans: Big, loud and fast. Europeans: Patient and boring.

Last time I played GT5 it said 3000kg.
I must be mistaken.
Anyways, the minimum weight is 3400lbs.

Also, how is driving in NASCAR more physically demanding than F1?
I has less grip than an F1 car which means that less G force is produced.
F1 races are usually between 1 hour 30 minutes and 2 hours, but these are intnse sessions.
NASCAR drivers only need to train the left side of their neck as they only have left hand turns.

Being big and loud is not a good thing.
I don't know where you got fast from.
There's nothing wrong with being patient and boring is subjective.

Being big and loud is just as subjective as boring. You really are clueless. Fast comes from the action many popular sports pack. Football, compared to the tea sipping Footy, is fast paced things happen, again and again. In Footy, blink and you miss it, but don't worry, they will be showing the replay from here until cows come home, i.e. until another goal is scored next year. Whoo! Them NASCAR clips got my blood going.
