The CDG wing is due to come into Formula One in 2009 after the plans were redeveloped causing a delay in manufacturing them. Is it just me or do the wings look a little weird? I think it ruins the image of the F1 car, but hey it might just be a matter of getting used to it. What you think?F1BONKERSi read somewhere that they were actually going to scrap it altogether, cuz the a few of the tech directors proved that the concept of the CDG wing wouldnt help overtaking. although i dont have a link so dont quote me on it :P
I hate it full stop, it looks ugly, and if you look at it properly, aerodynamics would be hampered in my opinion, it just wouldn't workkipi19
I agree, why dont they just get rid of all those small winglets which leaves the car with just a front and a rear wing.
In one of the F1 Racing magazines earlier in the year a reader brought up that because they cut out the middle of the rear wing element taking away a big piece of advertising room. Many millions would be lost there. But I also didnt like the idea. The winglets on the cars are fundamental in keeping the car balanced in most cases the idea behind them is to keep the cars airflow clean and therefore produce more downforce and minimal drag helping the car corner faster and keep the car glued to the road banning them would just mean more crashes slower speeds and more **** footing, so less overtaking.KimisApprenticelol is it possible to have less overtaking? im not sure what causes it but i know that drivers arent getting a big a slip stream as they were 4-5 years ago, and if u compare cars now to then, its obvious "modern" cars have more wings. Coincidence?
No CDGs!! No CDGs!! They might say it increases overtaking as there is less 'dirty air' following the car, allowing competitors to follow closely. But it takes skill to overtake, not some weird looking wings.Napster06sorta agree, except driver skill isnt enough to make the cars go faster in "dirty air". Plus the days of driver skill are over cuz of too many driving aids :(
In a modern F1 car there simply isnt enough room for a manual foot clutch and a gearstick. I think TC should stay but should be set only to help to s certain extent, say 50% Do you include power steering as a driving aid? If so no F1 car will get around the hairpin at Monaco.KimisApprenticeWhen I think of it, the old drivers are really the true legends, and not the current drivers ! (no offence intended to current drivers!) Then again, with much more speed now, drivers need "a few" driving aids, but notice only "a few" and not full traction control, high power steering, high braking assistance and the likes of that!
