A consortium led by Prodrive chairman David Richards has bought legendary car marque Aston Martin from the Ford Motor Company.
Richards, whose Prodrive team will enter Formula 1 in 2008, will join the board of Aston Martin as non-executive chairman in a personal capacity.
The Briton heads the consortium alongside American banker John Sinders and Kuwaiti firms Investment Dar and Adeem Investment.
“This is an incredible opportunity – Aston Martin is one of the world’s most iconic brands,” said Richards.
“We are confident we now have all the right ingredients to take Aston Martin to even greater heights.”
Richards’ Prodrive outfit has run Aston Martin’s sportscar programme since 2004.
