There is new rules that will take effect in 2008. The biggest  new rule is "The Engine Freeze". During Qualifying if you change your engine you will be docked 10 places on the grid but as of 2008 that will all change. The new penalty will be that if you change your engine during it's two race cycle your car will have 15kg more in weight added to the car.

Other changes include the move back to single tyre suppliers will be accompanied by a return return to slicks and a ban on tyre-warming blankets.

An other change is  that the WMSC include a mandatory testing limit of 30,000km (18,600 miles) per team per year, a ban on spare cars and a requirement for gearboxes to last four races.

How do you feel about this? Is it good or bad for F1???

I think its time for either another FIA boss or another championship with all the manufactures. The FIA has been busy driving F1 to the ground ever since the end of 1997, I did do a good job on safety grounds though with making the cars stronger, HANS, making tracks safer, etc. But they fail horribly in trying to make the sport more interesting and cheaper. Constant rule changing is also expensive, but F1 is an expensive and dangerous sport and it will stay that way or otherwise they should try bumpercars. US gp 05 would have been a normal race had they not banned tyre stops, if they had still used to old point system the championship would have been wide open still at Japan and qualifying never needed to change. And now they wanna ban spare cars, I bet the luckiest driver in the world Kimi Raikkonen is gonna enjoy that.

I've said before and i'll say it again, Max Mosley should either leave the FIA or just die all together.

F1 has been a fantastic for many years, and now has lost its appeal, i now have to agree with what my dad has been saying, F1 has become to much of a Business and is not the passionate sport it used to be, although Max has done many good things in F1 it doesn't balance out what he has done to make the sport worse.

Ever Since Roland Ratzenberger and Ayrton Senna died on that Fateful Imola Weekend in 1994 (although i was only 4yrs old then) The FIA has been to uptight and trying to make the sport a worse place than it has been.

Does anyone Agree????

To be really honest, the sport was a lot more exciting when the cars werent safe at all and fast as hell. The 80 and early 90's, but people were already arguing that the sport was becoming boring in 70s so Ive read. It is good to make the sport safer and cheaper, but if you look at the last couple of years, all the rules about making the sport cheaper also make it boring and they have make more new rules to make it (sound) interesting again, like the engine rule. When there were unlimited engines you wouldnt have to worry about your favorite driver being put to the back. And I agree that F1 is more of a business, I think its pretty much since everyone saying it. Years back, it was simple, get your racing gloves on and race. Now they got one eye on their wallet and one eye on the track.

after 2008 rules are going to change big time, and F1 will probably be a business instaed of just Racing with a passion.

If F1 does Become a Business in 2008 then i probably won't watch it anymore because people won't race for PASSION it will be for Money. And thats not what F1 is about...............

WHAT!!?
What kind of rule is this?! :x
This is probably the worst rule FIA has ever set!

Are the teams satisfied with this? Why isn't any team complaining?!

 Texas69

They introduced that rule to the British Touring Car Championship back in 2000 and in the feature race a driver who had just made his tyre stop crashed on cold tyres and missed half of the season. O and another thing, from next year all teams will be on Bridgestone tyres and this tyre is known that it takes trouble getting up to temperature. Drivers who run on this tyre say they need to go flat out on their out/formation laps instead weaving and doing burnouts and hard breaking like the Michelin drivers do to warm their tyres.

Thats exactly right mate. Bridgestone tyres have problems getting up to tempreture. i also don't like the Bridgestone tyre becuase they don't have the grip like Michalin do. i think that they should have Michalin instead of Bridgestone.

Are Good-Year thinking of a comeback????????
