Please discuss anything to do with the European GP this weekend in this thread :)

Qualy Times
1 K. Räikkönen Ferrari 1:31.450
2 F. Alonso McLaren 1:31.741
3 F. Massa Ferrari 1:31.778
4 N. Heidfeld BMW 1:31.840
5 R. Kubica BMW 1:32.123
6 M. Webber Red Bull 1:32.476
7 H. Kovalainen Renault 1:32.478
8 J. Trulli Toyota 1:32.501
9 R. Schumacher Toyota 1:32.570
10 L. Hamilton McLaren 1:33.833
11 N. Rosberg Williams 1:31.978
12 A. Wurz Williams 1:31.996
13 G. Fisichella Renault 1:32.010
14 R. Barrichello Honda 1:32.221
15 A. Davidson Super Aguri 1:32.451
16 T. Sato Super Aguri 1:32.838
17 J. Button Honda 1:32.983
18 S. Speed Scuderia Toro Rosso 1:33.038
19 V. Liuzzi Scuderia Toro Rosso 1:33.148
20 D. Coulthard Red Bull 1:33.151
21 A. Sutil Spyker F1 1:34.500
22 M. Winkelhock Spyker F1 1:36.940

POINTS OF DISCUSSION THIS WEEKEND:

  1. With McLaren's hearing looming, will they lose focus on this weekend or can they pull it together to bring the fight back to Ferrari?
  2. How long do you think it will take now for Renault to catch up with BMW? Only once have they outscored BMW this year (USA, Renault 4 pts - BMW 1 pt), but can the World Champions beat BMW by the end?
  3. Markus WinkelhockStarts his first GP this weekend, replacing the dropped Christijan Albers - How will he perform, and can he keep the seat for the rest of the year?
  4. Providing no punishment is placed on the McLaren Drivers, who do you feel is heading to be World Champion of 2007?

Top 6 after practice 1:

1. L Hamilton 1:32.515

2. K Raikkonen +0.236

3. F Alonso +0.417

4. N Heidfeld +0.460

5. R Kubica +0.690

6. F Massa +1.090

It's been pretty crazy out there.. Lewis held P1 for most of the session, then Raikkonen, Alonso and Heidfeld all set massively fast lap times; all of which beat Hamilton's best. Just minutes later however, Lewis set a killer lap to put things as they were before. Heidfeld is seriously looking more competitive already, but there are still 2 more practice sessions to play around with the cars. I expect Massa will try a bit harder later.

Raikkonen seems to be very determined to win this race. I guess he finally have the car to his liking. If it rains on sunday, then we might have an interesting European GP!

Latest weather reports suggest a fine & Dry qualifying, and a sunny day for the race, just with a few clouds.

Here's to hoping Hamilton's fine.

With a crash like that, it's just eerily reminiscent of Schumi's crash at Monaco '99. It's pretty horrid that the car didn't bounce back, and that was a horrid failure. Hopefully it's nothing too bad and he'll be able to race tomorrow. It's going to be a major shame if he can't compete tomorrow, especially as part of the Championship quadruple.

Infact, Ron's message has just been aired on TV, that gives some more hope that he may be able to compete tomorrow.

Hamilton crashed heavily. Probably his run of podium finishes would end. Raikkonen took pole though

It would suck if he can't race tomorrow.. him starting from 10th or 22nd would be interesting to watch either way; we'd see loads of great overtaking like we did with Massa at Silverstone.

Depends, if he has a fast car. Massa was lucky enough that his Ferrari was top-notch at Silverstone. He could literally outbrake everyone, especially at the first corner, where you could go flat out if your car is stable.

i was actually pissing myself laughing when cars were sliding into the gravel trap.....it was eventually a graveyard of 5 cars....interesting Hamilton got away.

I'm very happy Mark Webber finished third....on ya mark!

also funny when Raikkinon overshot the pits.

battle between Massa and Alonso was preety good

That's not rain. Its sleet! The last time it rained that heavy was in Brazil and prior to that Sepang 2001.

Turn One reminded me of the Senna S at Brazil 2003, you could see the water running like a river! Lucky fo Hamilton that Sutil didn't hit his rear wing, but it still came to nothing. It does, however, throw the door wide open yet again for the World Championship now Alonso's only 2 points back.

Apparently, that arguement before the podium between Massa and Alonso was because Massa had congratulated Alonso on the win, for Fernando to turn around and say "You don't mean that". Sounds like even when winning Alonso can be slightly snappy...

Anywho, for anyone who could've possibly missed the incredible start, or just wants to see it again, here's the clip (and hurry before the FIA take it down!!): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dB4-gUNenlQ

It was a great move that Fernando pulled on Massa, but although as much as i hate ferrari, it wasn't massa's fault for hitting Alonso's car, as Fernando went round the outside, massa understeered into the McLaren.

So nobody is to blame really.
