Yeah the name's still a WIP, but we'll come to an agreement on what it shall be called. But of course this thread is supposed to be about OUR ideal Grand Prix racing series, the ideal cars we want to see racing on track, the favoured locations we want to see the drivers and teams race on.

This is effectively where we share our ideas for what is essentially our Fantasy F1 Season. Because who knows. The oppitunity may rise if the FOTA teams say 'Hey, you're spectators. We want to hear what you'd like to see in motor racing. Send us some ideas for our racing series' and WE as a community can grasp that oppitunity with all hands and have the sort of racing series we've always dreamed of for some time now.

So Mentlegens. Start sharing those ideas that've been lurking in the back of your head for the last, god knows, how many years!

At the moment, I can only compose a list of circuits in which I'd like to see be raced at - most of which are current circuits/recent rejects, but some different venues too.

Australia - Albert Park
Malaysia- Sepang Circuit
China - Shanghai International Circuit
Spain - Jerez
Monaco - Monte Carlo
Canada - Circuit de Gilles Villeneuve
USA - Indianapolis Motor Speedway
France - Le Mans (shortened)
Britain - Silverstone
Germany - Nurburgring
Turkey - Istanbul Park
Italy - Monza
Singapore - Singapore Street Circuit, Nightime Race
Japan - Suzuka
Brazil - Sao Paulo
Abu Dhabi - Street Circuit

Given Barcelona and Bahrain are both test circuits for modern F1, these races have become dull. And God knows we need rid of Hungary fast. I'll give Abu Dhabi the benefit of the doubt, given we've not been there yet but I'd like to see the re-introduction of Indianapolis and Gilles Villeneuve, given both circuits usually present a high-drama GP. I say we still need 2 or 3 more circuits though to make a good number, given the list I made is only 16.

Other possible circuits:

Hockenheim - could perhaps do the alternate thingy with Nurburgring as now.

Spa - surprised that it's not on Redders' list, unless there's contract restrictions or something.

A1-Ring - when it's rebuilt, a great track that always threw up some surprises.

Just suggestions for now, feel free to shoot me down if you wish...:P

I'd like to see some races in North America to widen the appeal of the sport. They already have a massive number of motorsport fans, but F1 certainly hasn't given them good races for a few years.

For next season I think they will have to do something very similar to this year in relation to the cars. There really isn't enough time for sweeping technical changes, apart from maybe fine-tuning some of the rules and regs from this year - drop KERS, be clear on things like the diffuser.

I don't think finding circuits should be too hard. F1 has dropped/rejected/annoyed many circuits that host other major motorsport races that we could see a nice selection of new circuits.

I've suggested the retention of the current qualifying format. Personally, for me, it's the best format they've had. I've also made two more headings, one for participating teams and for new drivers you'd like to see in. Obviously if there are drivers you feel should leave, don't forget to name them too. And I know who everyone will say first...

USA - Watkins Glen (Indy road course is lame) :P

It would be very cool to have one race a year that is an endurance type, maybe alternate LeMans (long) and Nurburgring Nordschleife and on those tracks off years run Magny Cours and Hockenheim respectively. I don't mean endurance like 6+ hours but longer than the typical 2-2.5 hours.

How about Argentina as well as Brazil having a track, maybe have the Canada and Mexico added along with USA, try and balance it out around the world. Perhaps have a South Korean circuit race.

One other thing - No night races!

I would like to see the teams also give customer cars out (thus aiding fianance at other teams and resolving some issues I have with past F1 decisions). That way we could see the top teams help the smaller sides and so more of a alliance built around teams rather than this "its us versus them" syndrome I sometimes get the vibe of from F1.

Bring back Super Aguri and Takuma Sato, bring back Minardi and Lola teams and get maybe a 26 car grid and top 8 get points or something. Maybe even scrap qualifying and do a BTCC type thing where who finished first in the last race starts back of the grid in the next one. That way we will get overtaking more often and also perhaps have a few supprise points finishers.

Well contractually with FOM (Bernie's company who owns the rights to Formula 1) many circuits could be a No No. BUT there are a large number of competition laws I've been told about in Europe which may allow of FOTA F1 to run on whatever circuits they like. So.

Australia - Adeleide street circuit/ Albert Park*
Malaysia - Sepang*
Bahrain - Bahrain international Circuit*
Britain- Silverstone *?
France - Magny Cours/Paul Ricard*
San Marino - Imola
Germany - Hockenheim*?/Nurburgring*
Portugal - Algarve (Youtube it!)
Spain - Valencia Autodrome
Italy - Monza*
Turkey - Istandbul*
Belgium - Spa*
Singapore - Singapore Street Circuit*
Japan - Suzuka*/Fuji*
China - Shanghai*
Canada - Gilles Villeneuve
USA - Road America/Indy/Watkins Glen/Road Atlanta (However at the moment only Indianapolis meets the safety guidelines)
Brazil - Interlagos*
Abu Dhabi - Yas Marina*

Those denoted with an asterisk should/do have a racing contract with FOM from my knowledge and may not be allowed.

Also as much as I think the A1 ring would be awesome to come back... http://www.f1technical.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=4428&start=15

As for regulations to begin with it would only be reasonable to clarify what they have at the moment and then move forward in years to come on a majority voting system for changes - 4WD, Increased KERS, Bodywork changes etc.

Whilst it would be nice to see races like Japan 2005 all over again, it wouldn't work to be honest, as you'd be punishing the drivers for being successful. Also, what happens if one top driver pulls out of a race first and all the backmarkers surround him in the results of the race? Easy runaway victory next time out. It's a nice though but realistically, I don't see it being viable.

Maybe, but it works with the BTCC where the championship is more open.

I do like the current system as well as the last 2 or 3 minutes now really opens up the top at the moment. It just depends how many teams are going in.

Another thing I am interested in is why Brawn are quiting F1. They are leading the championship and I question why they want to leave Formula 1 as they would be able to develop next years car well where as they cant garuntee what the car specifications will be next year so can not work on a new car for longer. If they can show where the money is coming from then maybe it will work for them but I dont think its Virgin that are providing the major cash here as they would have got the car in their colours.

Well Minichamps, the company that makes the scaled-down models of F1 cars for GrandPrixLegends, are releasing a car for Brawn GP called "Late Season Livery" - which suggests at some point the Brawn livery is set for a significant change, possibly Virgin making themselves a title sponsor.

For technical regulations I'd redesign the cars in such a way that they'd end up looking like the old CART chassis' from the late 90's or early 2000's. Like the Swift seen here in this screenshot or the Penske in signature.

Although they wouldn't exactly look like carbon copies of the Lolas, Reynards or Penskes from the old CART series. Some features from the F1 cars would make their way into the ideal Grand Prix racing car (e.g. 2005-2008 spec rear wing and diffuser).

Cars: I do like the old CART cars, but so much has changed over the past decade, we can't unlearn the crappy road of aero development we've been on. Maybe keep the front wing integrated into the nosecone. Have tall, wide rear wings, 2009 height, 2008 width. V10s or V8s with Turbos. Schedule: Canada: Mont-Tremblant USA: Road America or Watkins Glen Brazil: Interlagos the old long circuit Argentina: Tilke made a great circuit there recently, can't recall the name though Italy: Monza San Marino: Imola Belgium: Spa France: Bugatti or La Sarthe in full Austria: A1 Ring c'mon somebody needs to fix that place up Germany: Hockenheimring long Spain: Jerez (FIA hates the place, good) Portugal: Algarve Netherlands: Zandvoort UK: Brands Hatch Japan: Suzuka Qatar: Losail (night) Australia: Adelaide Tried to get a few circuits without FIA obligations in there.

Tut tut :P

Ah well, I would like to see F1 more global anyway rather than just Europe and middle east Asia (i.e. North/Central/South America, North and Southern Africa, eastern Europe, etc, I mean why is there no Russia/Polish/Ukraine GP).

My idea, Use today's safety technology, but use the design rules from 1991, and have the teams race using that :), Tracks, I don't care as long as it would provide overtaking :)
