FORMULA ONE 06 Comes to PlayStation
More pickup and play than ever, fully loaded with brand new features: Put on your racing gloves and experience action-packed racing fun in FORMULA ONE 06

Set for launch in June 2006, FORMULA ONE 06TM is the only official game of the 2006 FIA FORMULA ONE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPTM and is back exclusively to PlayStation®2 and PSPTM (PlayStation®Portable). Loaded with new features and all the official 2006 drivers, cars, teams, circuits and rules, FORMULA ONE 06 is the only way to truly interact with the world's raciest sport!

FORMULA ONE 06 on is all about speed, competition and fast-paced action. If you're a novice, switch on the improved driver and racing aids to race for fun; or turn them off for a full length GRAND PRIX experience if you're a FORMULA ONE professional. FORMULA ONE 06 features the ability to Network Play between PlayStation 2 and PSP. This means players can now compete online across platforms to see who the fastest FORMULA ONE 06 racer is. In other words, if you own the PlayStation 2 version of the game and your friend owns the PSP version, you can still compete on the same circuit!

For the first time, the experienced Studio Liverpool development team has been hard at work on both titles, to ensure the 2006 games remain innovative and fresh. Brand new features include:

Accessibility: Thanks to new racing aids, any gamer can pick-up and play FORMULA ONE 06 and enjoy the exhilaration of driving a FORMULA ONE car. Equally, if you're a confirmed F1 driver, you can scale the gameplay to make it more simulation oriented. Either way, you will have access to a Tips and Learning Centre to constantly improve your racing skills

Online Play: You can now race online in a complete 18-race season! Relive the excitement and the competition of a full championship season. Winning it will make it even more satisfying!

Cross Platform: Race online between all PlayStation platforms!

Realism: Race in this year's championship with all the 2006 drivers, cars, teams, circuits and rules!

Getting even closer to the world's most glamorous sport, both titles give players the real FORMULA ONE experience via new additional features including:

Classic Cars: Unlock and take the wheel of classic FORMULA ONE cars
Extensive Career Mode: Chief Engineer - A new way of playing career mode
Live Action Racing: Pressure system, AI mistakes and collisions, race incidents, new physics
Race Car Evolution: Tune and set up your car without going through complicated menu screens

The PSP version will also take advantage of Infrastructure Mode allowing you to race online, a first for FORMULA ONE on PSP.

So... take a seat, put on your racing gloves and get ready to experience the action-packed racing fun that is FORMULA ONE 06 on PSP and PlayStation 2.

I hope this game will be much more realistic compared the last few games and a lot harder then F1 05. I dont like the sound of "the presure system" which is already being used in other games.

BTW, you got a link ?

This is the best news I heared today! :)

I hope that they'll really produce a good simulation this time; because the fact sheet that was annouced when F1 05 was official annouced mentioned a lot of exciting things that made us very excited, and many of us thought that this game was going to be awesome, but in the end it didn't turn out exactly as expected! :(

Now that I read all these exciting things, I just hope that history doesn't repeat itself! :?

Aloushi is right, it could be top notch or just be like its predecessors. lets hope it will rule all f1 games.

Won't Liverpool Studios concentrate on making the F1 for PS3 better and just add a little to spruce the 06 to keep fans happy.  I'll be expecting the same level of difficulties, which by my key is rather easy.

Correct me if i'm wrong *might be* but isn't F1 06 going to be a PS3 Game. I mean it would give it a much better edge..with the PS3 XBOX live like internet connection. Racers from around the globe could race at Monaco,Silverstone and all instead of racing your friends and the CPU (not that good)

Well the culprit to blame is Sony America.  Studio Liverpool has gone on record that they'd love to release in America but it's the decision of Sony America.

Well the PS3 is version is in development but as you can imagine it may be 2007 as the console is now delayed.  If we are lucky a ps3 version of 2006 could be released if the console is released before the end of the year.

I definitly hope so, I dont know why they had left out the safety car ever since they started on the PS2. It was pretty fun in Formula 1 99 and 2000. But if they do add those two things they should make it manual or at least have the choice to choose between manual and auto pilot otherwise its not much fun for the hardcore sim racers. But I dont think that they will include them, o well there is still Formula 1 99 :D

the formation lap would be fun to do in manual, warming your tyres as you go round the track, and then pulling up at the grid, as well as the safety car coming out i think that would be fun as well. Because if you have a good lead and there is an accident that lead would be almost wiped out, which means you would have to do it all over again or end up getting overtaken.

I do hope it would be there..........

Or when your in a bad race, you can do a "Schumacher-Monaco-04" during the safety car :D

But that would be the idea, instead of walking the championships like the other games, that could make or break a championship with the safety car coming out. do you agree????

Yeah you got a good point there, if there would be a saftey cay periode it might just spoil your own or your rivals race in terms of strategy.

and then that way, you could end up having to change your strategy because you could be behind traffic and can't get past them. Lets hope they do put that option in there, i know i would use it.

Would You?????

I want a F1 game for the US market.  I don't remember the last game they release over hear, I think it was 02 or 03.  They are saying there is a F1 game being release with the PS3 but that could change.

Well if the game features this years season which features American driver Scott Speed, I think that it would increase changes for a US release too.

I hope it's not TOO realistic. I got a F1 2003 by Sony and it's kinda lame because it's too realistic. What I mean is that you can edit from brake thickness to the slanting degree of the tyres. No matter what car I use, I always get last.

WOW!
The game looks AWESOME and the damage system looks good, but I still can't shake the feeling that there isn't enough sense of speed (IMO)!

Thanks cm_gamer-2! :)

I hope they do make it very realistic, up to the standarts of GTR and Nascar Racing 2003. But of course they should help others with for example a quick setup like in F1C 99 - 02. BTW F1 2003 isnt that difficult, I always drive 5 lap races where I start from the back without tweaking the setup and win, with AI and most other things at the hardest level.

There is an official site which contains trailers for the PS2 and PSP version of the game.
