Just looking on the F1 2006 forum board, someone posted this video link in my "ROUND 8: France" from today's GP2 race, and it is a horrific one, but once again just shows how strong they make these cars now.

At first, you see the start of the race which is a Wurz-DC similar crash, but later on is a horrific crash which is a LOT worse than what Robert Kubica suffered 3 weeks ago. Ernesto Viso, the driver suffering the crash, currently has a concussion and "complications in his right arm" (No news yet as to whether it's broken or not).

Here's to a speedy recovery for Ernesto.

Venezuelan Ernesto Viso escaped serious injury after a colossal accident in Saturday's GP2 race at Magny-Cours.

The 22-year-old, making his return to the series with the Racing Engineering team, crashed in spectacular fashion after hitting Michael Ammermuller's ART machine.

Viso's car was launched into the air at around 120mph on the straight after the Adelaide hairpin and vaulted over the concrete wall, narrowly missing a bridge parapet and marshals but careering through an advertising hoarding.

Viso sustained a severe concussion but, remarkably, no major injuries. He will be kept in hospital overnight for observation.

Ernesto Viso appears to have escaped serious injury following a massive accident in the GP2 feature race at Magny-Cours saw him barrel-roll over a retaining wall on the run to the Nurburgring chicane.

The Venezuelan was attempting to make up early places when he was launched over the back of Michael Ammermuller's ART Grand Prix car following initial contact with Kazuki Nakajima, as the three appeared to be close to running three abreast. The flight of the car was then such that, after being pitched on its end by first touchdown, it hit the wall and rolled along its length before disappearing on the infield side. The driver's helmet was close to the concrete on first impact, but it is understood that the top of the nose section just ahead of the cockpit bore the brunt of the collision.

Although there was little movement from the cockpit, and medical team quickly encircled the car, Viso is thought to have got away lightly.

"It was a huge, huge accident," a spokesman for the driver told Crash.net, "Fortunately, Ernesto's father has told me that EJ is uninjured, other than taking a hit to one arm.

"Just for precaution, he will spend tonight at the hospital in Nevers, but I repeat that he is okay and without any serious injury."

The Venezuelan, who only returned to the series with Racing Engineering this weekend, is also understood to have suffered a concussion, but is otherwise unharmed.

"Today has been a day with three bits of good news for Racing Engineering but, first and most important, Ernesto is fine after his horrific crash," team boss Alfonso d'Orleans Borbon confirmed, "We haven't yet got the official report from the FIA doctors, but we have been told that he's conscious, talking and out of danger - although they will keep him under observation."

The race was suspended for nearly an hour while the clear-up was completed, but had already lost five cars, with the iSport duo of Andi Zuber and Timo Glock having taken each other out at the start.

That was massive.. but about half as bad as Kubica's because there was only a single point of impact, and it wasn't head on into anything. It's important to remember that while GP2 is safe, there isn't the same amount of money going into safety and therefore it doesn't quite match F1 in that sense. This is still a huge crash in GP2 and F1 terms of course. Hopefully he recovers quickly though.
