BMW ace Robert Kubica says he laments the passing of traction control from Formula 1 at the end of the season.

With a ban on such devices coming into force for 2008, the Polish 22-year-old, who survived an enormous accident in the Canadian Grand Prix in June, claims he hates the idea of anything that will might slow him down.

"We've gone from nice, slick racing tyres to grooved tyres," he said in an interview in the new edition of F1 Racing, out Tuesday.

"We've gone from V10s to V8s. And now we go from TC to no TC. I love racing and driving but I want the cars to be the fastest things on earth.

"In rallying, you could say that maybe you'd have more fun with rear-wheel-drive cars but if I was going to drive a rally car I'd want it to be absolute state-of-the-art four-wheel-drive. It's the same in F1.

"If I have 900bhp I want to be able to put that power down on the road as soon as possible," he added.

"I don't mind the challenge of having to do it presicely with my right foot, but ultimately I want to go fast and I don't like things that slow me down."

Kubica, who has finished fourth three times this season and is still waiting to replicate his '06 Monza podium, did concede however that he is intrigued by the concept of having total control over the power of his car.

"I think it'll make things very different," he said.

"I'm really interested to know what it's going to be like to drive at Monaco in the wet with no TC.

"You saw what it was like this year on Saturday morning. Imagine next year!"

I think it will show drivers more for their skills at driving than their skills as an 'on-board engineer'. In using that term I'm not saying I think drivers don't put anything into the driving right now, I'm simply saying that a lack of TC makes them more of a driver than they are now. We'll see a few more accidents, and maybe it will send some drivers into a period of continual driving errors, creating a bit more variation in results.

With TC out of F1 next season, it will definitly require more effort from the drivers. I think this would make the sport more fun as drivers will have to show their true skills. I love technology, especially in F1, but I'm still sticking with ban of TC.
