Lewis Hamilton has admitted that he lost the title due to a human error. The young Briton lost a lot of time when his car all of a sudden seemed to slow down, but after a while he managed to get it going. He fell back to P18 and had to work himself up the field again in order to fight for the championship title.

Speaking to French newspaper La Presse Hamilton said: "My finger slipped on the wheel and I accidentally pressed the button to start a starting procedure. The car went in neutral and I had to reinitialize the system in order to get going again."

McLaren, and a source close to Hamilton have both said that this report is completely false, and that he never even contacted the newspaper in question: http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/63613.

It's just another anti-Hamilton story which I'm afraid we've had to get used to along with anti-Alonso stories this season.

I was gonna say, it didn't exactly sound quite trustworthy. I checked to see if "La Presse" was even a newspaper (which it turns out it is) so that kinda fooled me. Plus I didn't quite understand why Hamilton would talk exclusively to a French-Canadian newspaper...

Planet F1 are not a credible source I'm afraid. Not only did they jump the gun and say that McLaren had been completely kicked out of the 2007 and 2008 seasons when no other site seemed to suggest so (except other unreliable sites), they also post rumours, like this, as though they are fact. Autosport on the other hand, takes the opposite approach, the professional approach, and looks at both sides of the story, and then comes to an intelligent conclusion after weighing up the facts. Planet F1 will often have a false headline for several days before rectifying it, which leads their readers into having very strong but false opinions (so don't ever visit the forums there :P)

The headlines are a good laugh. They are so ridiculously stretched from the the truth it is amazing. And I always go to see where Alonso will go in 2011 after he has done his stint with Ferrari, Toyota and Spyker. I go to those forums for a good laugh. And a weather report when I can't find a good one.

I also had to laugh when Peter Winsdor and the Speed guys were poo-pooing "a certain website" (Planet F1) which broke the news that McLaren was excluded.

Almost every race. But there are links to local weather sites.
