Race Summary:
        M
elbourne race was full of surprises. It was a terrible week for the McLaren; after a bad practice and qualifying sessions, Nahle's winning chain was broken when he retired from the race in the 28th lap due to driver error, and his team mate (Mjk Khan) ended in the forth position.
Ekberg, who surprised everyone in the qualifying session by winning the pole position for Midland, showed a strong performance but his engine failed him in the 30th lap to lose a serious chance of winning the race. Nevertheless he showed a lot of potential and showed that even small teams like Midland can compete for the podium.
Renault was ressurected when Koh won the thrid position after an impressive performance, but his team mate (Watson) wasn't so lucky and he retired in the 46th lap due to a driver error. Toyota had the best car settings this weekend and deserved the 2nd and 5th positions; which earned them a lot of precious points.
Ferrari showed its power to everyone by winning the race through their team leader Matt Haffiz. Honda's performance was nothing to write home aboue.
Haffiz now has the same number of points as Nahle and Khan, Cahall and Ekberg are trailling them.

Nahle wants to show that he was just having bad luck, Haffiz wants to show that he's the best, Khan refuses to be dominated, Cahall is pushing hard and Ekberg wants to show that his strong performance wasn't just a fluke.

Who will emerge victorius in Imola?

Fastest Lap: Beicius Cahall (Toyota) Lap 13: 1:24:297

Best setups: Toyota (98.50%)

PRESS RELEASE: Ali, McLaren Mercedes
"
The results were much worse than I expected! I expected that I won't be able to win the race but I'v never expected to retire from the race. Now, me and Hafiz have the same number of points and  Khan, Cahall and Ekberg are not too far. It's going to be very challenging from now on. We hope that we'll do much better in Imola."

Toyota #74 Press Release

First of all, I want to apologize to Franco for hitting him during the race into the corner.  I did not expect that he will brake so prematurely especially driving a Ferrari.  But on the good side, I am happy with the progress that Toyota made with this car, I want to thank my crew and Bridgestone for an amazing job.  Johnson (teammate) and I worked very well during the practice, qualifying, and warm-up to find the best setting possible and it was reflected as I took the fastest lap for the race.  Being second in the race was an amazing result but I feel we could have won because I pitted three times instead of the two I plan due to the collision.  Anyways, I am happy for the result and I look forward for good qualifying at Imola.

Koh's Press Release:  At last, we can get the result we deserve.  It has been a terrible start to the season but we look forward to put it all behind us.  The tires lasted well today and I want to thank Michellin for their support.  Now, we have to find tune our set-up so both our cars can score podiums.

PRESS RELEASE :

Melbourne pretty much summed up my title campaign so far with another unlucky race...The car was setup well..but the Renault RS 26 wasn't up to much and prevented me from showing my race pace. Koh done well :D to get a podium
