Personally I can see arguments for why McLaren would want to have a lovely one two, but I think that they should have let their drivers push harder. As ITV show the grid during the race build up, it also shows what engine they are on, according to the rules Engines have to last 2 races. and i was that Fernando and Lewis were on their first engine, so i'm sure McLaren would of wanted them to preserve their engines, for the Canadian GP in two weeks.

yeah and since they were miles ahead of everyone their was no need to push the engines any harder

Update! The FIA is now looking into the incident to see if it was a legal move, as team orders were banned after the infamous Schumacher, Barrichello incident. Personally Ican see both sides of the fence, but as of now am yet to really take sides.

They should slowed down, to preserve the engines for the next race

Technically, the 'order' was for Hamilton to slow down, easing the pressure on Alonso. Not the both of them slowing down
